I noticed some parts of my hair has clumped at the demarcation where my NG as tangled up. Should I attempt to detangle before I relax in a couple days or will the relaxer "do it for me," so to speak?

Take the time to detangle BEFORE you do your relaxer. In fact, I'd use conditioner, oil and whatever else that usually works and just push the relaxer time a little further to make sure your scalp won't have a bad reaction.

The relaxer will not detangle your hair for you. That is a disaster waiting to happen.

If your NG is tangled, the relaxer will probably tighten the tangles a bit more. You should definitely detangle with a conditioner. Comb from the ends to the root or gently pull the hair out of the tangle (this takes a looong time depending on the amount of tangles, but you save more hair).

I'd suggest detangling after deep conditioning with a very detangling (mostly moisturising) conditioner (I mix my DC with oils)...

Good luck, let's know how it goes.

You need to detangle your hair before relaxing. The application & smoothing process will only cause it to knot up more.

hmm this always confuses me
because I read that people leave their ng alone in between relaxers
like they don't comb it
??

yeh definately detangle. i detangle my ng every wash under running water only ..with lots of conditioner piece by piece.
