You know, like in the hair magazines & those hairstyle books that you see in the beauty supply & salons? Some of those women don't look like professional models--just everyday people. Has anyone done this?
My mom tried to get me to go to one of thoses hair model casting calls. i live in chicago, and they have casting calls for hair models all the time. And most of the time most of the women are not professionals. I think the reason there are so many casting calls in chicago is because a lot of black hair care companies are based here, soft sheen, ect.

How do I get info about hair model casting calls in Chicago? I've had an interest in "hair modeling" for some years now but had no ideas of where to start.
TIA!
i wrote to Avlon to tell them how much i like their products once. i sent them the pic that's on the LHCF homepage. the lady that wrote me back asked if i'd be interested in being a hair model for them. i said yeah, but nothing ever came of it.
hey, my namesake is the editor of Hype Hair Magazine. here is a pic of her from the magazine:
i think it's kind of ironic given my current obsession. i won't comment on her hair though...
i don't have a problem with a nice weave. i just think it's kind of bad that the real hair of the editor of a hair magazine looks kinda... damaged... ya know?
i actually have it was years ago when i was about 14( can not at the moment recall the name of the magazine/find it..but it has a red cover and comes out every 4 months)...both my aunts own hair salons in ny...my aunt veronica owns a popular shop in harlem and she does hair shows all the time...my other aunt in the bx sticks to the hair magazines and basically likes being more low key...it was a nice experience...and i still have the magazine somewhere in my house..lol...the people that my aunts use are her customers/become her customers...to me it does make sense to use your customers...or someone who you are familiar with..in order to gain an understanding and trust btwn what you are willing and non-willing to do hair-wise
my aunt who owns the salon in harlem wants me to continue but i dont like the manipulation that comes with being in the shows and the magazines...too many dif styles and way too much heat...she is always looking for a variation of new models...
