Is anybody an Ordained Minister?

I'm just curious on if and how you became ordained especially according to your gifts.

Opportunity has come my way as an Ordained Minister, but my gift according to scripture is Discerning Spirits #1 being strongest and Word of Wisdom #2. I have been hesitant towards ordination because I'm trying to see how it correlates with the gift God gave me.

I am a licensed Minister, have been for almost 2 years.

As for my gifts my primary gift is as exhorter which as Minister and as a Christian I do naturally so it just comes so easy for me. I encourage every while I go and even when I preach my word is usually an word of exhortation to encourage the saints of God.

Pray about your calling. If God has really called you to the ministry there is nothing that you will be able to do to stop it. Believe me I know. I ran for a long time and was happy where I was until I couldn't run anymore. Your gifts will agree with your calling.

I am a licensed minister and will be ordained in 2009. First I would fast and pray and seek the Lord regarding your calling. I would ask God to reveal what He has for you through your spiritual male heads. Then I would talk to them be it a dh and/or Pastor and see what the Lord has given through them. He will probably tell you first and confirm it through them. HTH Q

What are you being ordained to do?

I ask this because regardless of what your spiritual gifts are, ordination in general refers to leadership, authority, and service. These things can be done regardless of what your gifts are.

If it is an ordination for a specific service that you feel you may be inequipped for or does not align with your gifts, talents, desires, and skills, then that is something to consider as well....

And of course, fast, pray, seek the Lord to know which way to go and how to do.

I'm still a MIT. I get my license in January. I should be "ordained" in a year or so. God told me that I was a watchman and a "fisher of men". Everything else as far as ministry has just literally fallen into my lap.

I love you guys for answering me. Thank you thank you thank you. The ordination is for Ministry. To me, (and I could be just overanalyzing the whole thing really. I just want to be absolutely certain) ministry is such a broad avenue but yet not really. I am the type who has no problem being in the back seat while being effective. I'm not into titles and such and I think maybe my mindset about being an ordained Minister is the fact that there is no back seat. You are totally in the forefront and maybe that's what I'm most uncomfortable with. I am totally happy being an ambassador for Christ Jesus, although God has given me several dreams and visions of an alarmed nature where I am supposed to "let the people know". It is a specific assignment and I don't want to misconstrue that with ordination. and I think titles scare me. I do have leadership skills and equipped with authority. I do "minister" , give "word of wisdom", and "discern spirits" specifically to women, and a girlfriend and I are are going to start a women's group. Do ya'll think I'm overanalyzing?

Hahahahahaha. I don't what it means, but I just noticed that the ad on the top of the screen was

Ok, here's the natural underbelly of "ordained ministry", at least from what I have observed down through the years:

--have to be at EVERY SERVICE
--have to pay some kind of assessment/duty or give beyond the laymember on a regular basis
--have to be available to minister (there is no "off the clock"
--be prepared for greater spiritual (and natural) attack

So to anybody considering any kind of ministry, make sure it's God....

Don't mean to startle....

Thank you all, I realize thru speaking with you the answers to my own questions. It has become undeniably clear. still would like to hear from others tho.

I am also ordained...Ditto, I would agree with FoxyScholar re "the underbelly," but when He calls you, He also prepares you for the ups and downs. So please as the Lord said, "Count the cost."...

I also agree with someone else who said being called into leadership in Christ's Church is the focus of ordination, not necessarily identifying spiritual gifts. Both lay and clergy are gifted for their individual assignments, so the gifts are simply tools specific to your ministry to function in your calling.

Ordination means that you are prepared to take on the weight of the ministry and share the burden (the pressure) with Christ Jesus and the leadership in the house that you are assigned. So be prepared to shoulder the responsibility for the sheep in Christ's Church. Your life is no longer your own, like Paul said, you are a bondservant of the Lord Jesus Christ under His yoke! Lord, have mercy! lol! Thank you for reminding me! You refresh my memory in my responsibility!!!! LOL!

I could share more, but unless you need more information, I defer to others for their feedback... Blessings to the saints!
