a sew in where I plan to leave out the upper and outer perimeter of my hair (hope that makes sense). I want to be able to wear my hair to cover the tracks and also be able to wear it in a pony tail. I don't want a thick heavy weave or big head syndrome :lachen: ...

You're more than likely going to need at least 1 1/2 packs for a total of 6 ounces, but u should always take 8 ounces just in case. Trust me, u don't want to be the one leaving the salon with your hair half done to go buy some more hair or waste your stylist time by showing up with only 1 pack of hair.

8 ounces isn't really a ton of hair. Most ppl going for the big hair look install 10 or 12 ounces.

I have a weave in now with only the front out and I used 1 pack of hair from the janet human hair collection ( yaky perm) and it is very full ( my head is not small either). I think it depends on the brand sometimes because some brands have less hair in the pack than others. I guess use your best judgment. Hope this helps

Well, with folks always complaining about how the weight of microbraids tore their hair out, I wonder if forcing a stylist to use one pack (only 4 ounces) might be a good strategy.
