In Love with Dove

I have a new conditioner wash fav and it's...Dove... (?????)

I'm really surprised because when they started coming out with all their new products I was like - why are they trying to branch out? Why don't they stick to soap?

To my suprise though this is working AMAZINGLY on my hair for conditioner washes. I use the Moisture Rich Color Formula or the the Moisturizing formula.

It makes my hair extremely soft, VERY shiny (even airdried), and unlike the VO5 (which turned on me eventually causing mild breakage and crunchiness) keeps my hair feeling and looking healthy.

I'm really happy with it. The slip is pretty tight too...

And y'all know how I feel about slip.

It's a staple in my shower and more recently - my gym bag...Whodathunk?

Incidentally - their moisturizer (for the skin) also rocks.

Oh it doubles as a leave in too!

The stuff is worth the 5 dollar shot to the wallet (I was spoiled by VO5 and the ease with which one parts with a dollar) ...

It costs $5? I guess I won't be trying it! I'm trying to cut down on my pjism. Oh well. Maybe if I see it on sale sometime! Thanks for the review!

No problem. I cost 4.59 in NY. It may be cheaper in your area. But if you have something that works I say rock out!

VO5 abandoned me - so I was in the market for a good CW product.

Hey Tracy! *waving*
Do you condition after you condition wash? is this so good that you just put it in, rinse, and use a little as a leave in and go?

I like the Dove for conditioner washes too. It runs about $2.99 in my area. I just started using V05 for conditioner washes...finally caved in to the pressure. I'm glad I you mentioned that V05 is possibly not good for continuous long term use. I was worried about the Hydrolyzed Keratin in the V05 anyway.

Thanks for the review...

I have been peeking at Dove Moisture Rich Shampoo and Conditioner. I convinced myself that it couldn't possibly work on my thick 4a/b hair but a friend of mine also got really good results with it. I've been using Pantene Smooth and Sleek but maybe I'll give it a try.

I'm SOOO glad you posted this....I just bought a 2 ounce sample of the Dove Intense Moisture Conditioner for 99 cents (which I was reluctant to do since I also had a full-sized bottle of Suave Coconut Naturals Conditioner for the same price). I am also really beginning to dig using conditioners as a leave-in or diluting them for use as a leave-in.

I look forward to trying this. Thanks for sharing!!!

Thanks Tracy!
Dove's commercials have been eye-catching.. I think I will be purchasing this after my Suave runs out...

I am glad to hear this recommendation. I've been curious as well, especially because Dove does seem to be consciously marketing to women of color (always black women in the television and print ads), and they really push the moisturizing benefits of the product. Given that I am on the PJ Challenge, I will have to wait awhile before I buy some, but I'm looking forward to that day!

Got both the shampoo and the conditioner. Sam's Club sent me a sample of the shampoo and conditioner. I tried them both and fell in love. I went to Sam's to get it where I got a mega size for about $6. I believe it's 3 times as much in the mega size as the size found in regular stores. I've also used the Dove conditioner as a deep moisturizing conditioner by adding EVOO and coconut oil. Heaven!!!! My husband uses the Dove shampoo daily so I had to restock it last week. The mega size lasted for MONTHS. I still have some conditioner.

Slip is excellent and it was the first rinse-out conditioner that I used for a leave-in. My hair was incredibly soft. I couldn't stop touching it. When they say on those commercials that your hair will stop feeling like straw, they were NOT kidding.

For those who want to try it, I would see if Dove will send you out some samples. I've gotten two samples from them by doing nothing. They just showed up in the mail.

Wow, great thread Tracy..This sounds like something I will definitely check into. Also, I'm looking into the shampoo as well. Thanks for the review.

I am DYING to find the deep conditioner (the intensive moisture one?) but they don't have it at the Duane Reade I've been purchasing the regular conditoners from.

I was just at Harmon on Monday (in Long Island). DO they have one in the city Luna?

Hey Tracy I tried it and It was EXCELLENT... it was extra perfect for me because my hair is natural and my hair was super soft after using it despite my hard water problem
