I’m Starting to See A Lot of Google Advertising

All the sudden I’m seeing a lot of ads that are ruining my experience on this site. What do I need to do to fix this? If necessary I would love to just pay more money to avoid this. Between this and the other changes I’m not sure how much longer I can keep using the forum like this.

Thanks for bringing this up, because on my end, the ads are very large and appear throughout the page, so one has to scroll and peer through to see the threads. Let's seriously discuss the fees required to keep the forum ad free.

I was ok with ads on the top and bottom, but throughout the page and LARGE is too much!

Agreed! It’s also causing rendering issues. I’d happily pay more annually for it to be the way it was before these ads.

The owner of the site said she’s doing what she can to keep the site alive without losing money. I’d definitely pay more money to get rid of the ads. If anyone knows how to monetize a message board without the ads please chime in!

I'm surprised the fees haven't changed in all these years. I know her paid subscribers are way down since I found the site back in 2008.

But, some of us are still here and willing to support her!

Someone mentioned this in the hair section the other day. Luckily, I haven’t noticed the additional Google ads. I browse almost exclusively on my phone. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it… But I would gladly pay more for everything to revert back to the way it was before this latest update.

This ads stuff is terrible. I don't see it at home because my son blocks this at the server level on our home networks. This is so distracting and makes me want to leave the site!!!

I don't see the ads at home, but my son is a Cybersecurity engineer, he blocks everything including YT influencer's affiliate links. That's actually a good thing!

The google ads made Chrome crash.

I signed into the Google Chrome browser on my iPhone and laptop, and I still don’t have any ads. I don’t think anything special was done to my server.

But let me be quiet before they turn on my ads too.

I also hate the other new changes. When I log on I don’t see the forums. I see the top threads and I have to find the forum link (which is difficult due to the ads popping up!)

It is the Chrome Update !! The new Chrome update essentially disables all ad blockers. FireFox ad blockers should remain unaffected.

I have been avoiding the site because of the intrusive ads, but this makes sense.

They are awful. I even had a pair of breast pop up in the ads talking about chrons?!?and thankfully I was in my office.

I would pay more too. The user experience right now is terrible. I feel like avoiding this website but I love the people here.

I would recommend a Reddit style placement of ads, put it after every few posts. It should not be intrusive. The pop-up ads that blocks the whole page is annoying. Also, the ads are weird, it always someone shouting into the camera or boob pick with moles. This should be looked into.
