I'm done! I'm giving up on this hair care thing!

We all get frustrated about our hair sometime, it's o.k.
And this board is a great place to vent. We're here to listen and offer advice. :)

I think your hair is quite pretty...don't do something in the heat of the moment that you'll regret later.

And I think you should come clean about cutting your hair. It's yours, who cares what your family and friends think? Tell them you did it for your hair's health and leave it at that. It's obvious hiding the cut is stressing you out more than anything else.

Whatever i don't even know why i posted being fustrated. I regret posting this. I wish I could just delete this post (is this possible? pm me if it is w/ instruction) Nevermind forget it, I was just expressing my feelings but now I just feel bad for feeling my bad about my hair. Sorry.

Don't feel bad for expressing how you feel, MissFallon. No one is going to feel great about their hair, at all times.

Your hair could be playing tricks on you b/c you're transitioning. I'm over 7 months into my transition and my length varies, at times. I have episodes of hair anorexic, too. I try not to focus on my length too much. If using heat on your hair to wear the style you desire or see your true length will make you feel better, then, by all means go ahead and do it.

I was just venting, but its like everyone is saying I am overreacting. I really don't care if I am or not. It's not like I said its the end of the world but I do like my hair and it kinda sucks that it looks like **** right now. Im sorry if I happen to care what other people think of me and if you think that I am shallow. At this point I really dont even care anymore. I deleted the original post cuz I shoulda kept it to my damn self. I just cut about 3 inches off my hair just cuz im pissed and as y'all say "its only hair" right? It was already short so why not make it shorter, plus I was sick of ppl asking me about my damn ends so therefore I cut them off. I'm APL now. So, can I say I have short hair now? or am I wrong for that too?

What the problem is Anna Mae ??!!!??!(in my best Ike Turner voice)

Girl you trizzipin. Your hair is lovely. Don't be scissor happy like me. Just have some patience and keep doing what you doing. :)

ETA: ooookkkkaay...I just read your last reply and its a bit childish. Like a brat stomping off in a huff with your arms crossed. What are you getting so mad about? I don't see where anyone was jumping on you, more like trying to get you to appreciate what you do have. If you are leaving the forum because of this you really have some growing up to do...

Everyone did not say that you were overreacting. :nono: Why are you done w/ LHCF?

Ok y'all I know I'm trippin. I took a breather I'm back to normal. I'm sorry bout that. It's been a LONG week. Kinda mad I got scissor happy though:ohwell: I'm really stressed out w/ school and being sick and my mom being sick and just life so I guess my hair being messed up kinda threw me over the edge. I'm ok now. My apologies. I know I was acting childish, my bad!

It's okay everyone has their moments when everything gets overwhelming. I've had long super thick hair most of my life up to a couple years ago when I started relaxing/ coloring, it's doing growing just fine but I can't retain it. Anyway, do you plan on putting your hair away for awhile in braids or something?

See! I knew that's what it was! I notice that when people are really stressed out, it's the little things that bug them...:look: That is all.

I'm glad you feel better now. You had me worried there for a minute.

Miss Fallon????????? This will all be a testimony later on for you. I already see it. Baby girl, the TRUTH will set you free. The first thing you want to do is tell your SO the truth. Honey, I cut my hair because you know how I feel about healthy hair. It has not how it has been before but I need you to support me to help me get it back BETTER than before. I just broke the mold to my hubbie last night and I feel so free. He told me he would support me and now we joke about stinkie MTG and all. Now it's not a big deal to wash only when he's not around. I'm free.

The same will go with your family at your discretion. In my opinion your hair is beautiful in fact all of ours is because that's what God made. It's just about accepting what God made for US. I just realized from stretching my relaxer that my hair is prettier than the foolishness that I was taught and thought. That my hair is very soft and wavy in the back which is why it is always so thin and broken off. Those relaxrs I used in the past were way too strong for that texture back there. I'm like wow God I didn't know but now I accept.

And the absolutely best thing that came out of all of this believe it or not, is that you are closer to your goal than you realize. You just chopped off like what? 3 inches of damaged hair? Great -now you are left with perfectly beautiful thick hair! What more can you ask?

I know you were just venting and very frustrated. I think we all have times of frustration because we want what we want when we want it and patience goes completely out the door when that happens. But I know more than ever after this story you can't give up because we are all rooting for the outcome and now you are more than ever a testimony for somebody out there that will go through and IS going through the very same thing you are and they will lean on your story and pictures to help them.

Happy growing girl.. Believe....

MissFallon,

I am so glad you feel better. We all get frustrated and overwhelmed sometimes. I'm glad you had us to vent to.

Don't do anything drastic. Be kind to yourself and try to take it easy.

I'm mad I cut my hair! I had 1" of thin ends and the other 2" were just out of fustration. But it should grow back hopefully by October if my hair would start acting right again. Thank you for the support. I do need a little break from the forum though cuz ALL I think about is hair. I straightened my hair with the flat iron and it is actually a lot longer than I thought, about 1" from bsl now so I guess it was growing. It's amazing what a flat iron is capable of, I've only taken mine out 4 times this year so I barely had a clue I thought rollersetting was getting my hair as straight as possible and it wasn't. I guess I will have to start flatironing every couple of months to check length and take pics instead of doing them every month. I have a lacefront so I'm going to put it on and reappy bi-weekly until mid-december. I'll prolly post progress pics sometime in October. Thanx.

MissFallon, aren't you transitioning? And do you have fine stranded hair? If so, you probably are going through what I went through when I transitioned. I have fine stranded hair and as my new growth grew out, it was way thicker than my relaxed hair. It made my relaxed hair look thin and puny. I did everything to protect my hair in order to transition longer, but I decided to do the big chop. I too would wonder why my hair appeared the same length and it was because of shrinkage, forreal. I remember when I went to a salon to get a trim. My hair was grazing shoulder length. When the stylist straightened all my hair with a blowdryer and flat iron, it was inches passed my shoulders.
In order to get through this, you have to set an ultimate goal for yourself... Do you really want long hair or do you really want natural hair? That's what I had to determine. It was no use for me to hold on to my relaxed ends just so I can have longer hair if my ultimate goal was to be natural. So I chopped it off realizing I can grow long natural hair instead of long half thin relaxed hair/half thick natural hair.
Hope that helps! Please keep taking care of your hair and determine what you really want for your hair.

Exactly. MissFallon, I too have fine hair and I'm in 15 months transisition. I have not done the BC yet, and I just keep my hair bunned and moisterized all the time. When I do let my hair down (at home) I can't even believe how much it has grown. I don't use heat (haven't in about 6 months or more) but sometimes I feel like just blowdrying a section just to see where I'm at. But, that might be a tease, so I don't do it. I hate my thin ends too, but I'm willing to go all the way until my natural hair is the length I want before the BC. Stay strong... you are not alone. I want to know that you are staying strong for me too and I'm sure many of the ladies here who are also transisitioning. We need to stick together...it's not easy but we must finish to the end. Then we will look back and say "wow, I'm not where I was before and I can only go further from here."

MissFallon,

Please do not give up. One thing is for sure, YOUR HAIR WILL KEEP GROWING! No matter what you do, if you are in average health it will grow.

The trick is to be patient enough to stay gentle with it, and try not to dwell on it too much. Try not to become impatient and start jerking or ripping hair in frustration.

Keep doing the good things that you are doing and you will get there. Transitioning hair shows shrinkage so much sometimes that you really can't see how much it has grown.

Hope this helps

Hey Softtresses, what products do you use for your henna and amla applications?

Hi Edie,

I tried two times to pm you but something is wrong with the server. It would not send.

I use 100-150g of body art quality henna, 30-50g of Amla powder, 16oz of yogurt (can use more, it helps to stretch your henna further), and gelled pectin to make it nice and smooth and thick.

Do you henna too?

Ok, before I leave for good I'm going to just explain myself first. Last year I had thick full brastrap length hair. I had a sew-in put in last september for my bday to make it thicker. The sew-in messed up my hair and I ended up having to cut it. NO ONE (not even my SO) knows I cut my hair (well my mother knows its cut but doesn't know how short). So everyone that I interact with on a daily basis still thinks its that full healthy BSL almost midback hair that I had last year. I have worn clip in extensions twice and had a sew in for 2 weeks just cuz I was sick of wearing my hair in a ponytail. I am so fustrated with this ponytail that I wear everyday. I don't wear the curly one everyday anymore and wear a bun, which I absolutely hate. Its not a sock bun, its a phonypony wrapped in a bun. No one knows I have short hair and I am so embarrassed to show them my real hair. I just want it to grow back and it is taking forever. Everytime my SO goes to touch my hair I pull back or if someone comments on it I shy away even if its a compliment cuz its generally not mine. I just want my hair back and its taking forever. I am one of those ppl who wore my hair out everyday since I was about 12 years old and cut it right after turning 21 (turning 22 next month). I'm just ready to let my hair down again and not have to worry about it being a weave or a half wig or someone else's hair. I just want to wear my own hair down w/o a million ppl asking me what happened to my hair and what did I do to it. I just don't feel like going through the embarrassment that I have been trying to prevent since the day I cut it (December 29th). So, thats my story:ohwell:
I'm confused. So the hair you have now in your album is not your real hair/length?

Armpit length is not short. Shorter than BS length but still a good length. Just put it up for a while and let it be...
