If you don't use the same brand relaxer and neutralizer...

Why not? Which relaxer do you use? Which neutralizer?

I currently use ORS for both but this ORS neutralizer is so harsh! :sad: I'm not ready to give up my beloved relaxer, though. Help!

I use silk elements no lye relaxer, but have been using Mizani butter blends PH moisture bath (something like that) for over a year because it is a chelater and neutralizing shampoo. I love it ! :lick: I hated the butter blends relaxed though...

I've used Silk Elements relaxer (mild-lye) & Motions Neutralizing conditioner for over 2 years w/ no ill effects.

I tried a sample of this and fell in love. I hope it will be okay to use on my hair weekly.

Currently using Affirm Relaxer (Mild-Lye) and Isoplus Color-Indicator Shampoo.

I feel safer with the Color Coded component.

I'm not giving up my Design Essentials Sensitative Scalp relaxer without a fight! :lol:

I've been using the Motions neutralzing shampoo ever since I started self-relaxing. :yep:

Both products work well for my hair, so I won't be changing anytime soon.

For many years, I've texlaxed with Revlon Realistic Lye and neutralized with various other brands of shampoo, with no ill effects. I'm currently using Motions Neutralizing Shampoo. I don't know if Revlon even has a neutralizing shampoo in its line. :look:

I use (and love) Linange Shea Butter Lye, but I use Elucence Acidifying shampoo.

Linange has a neutralizing conditioner (not shampoo) and while I hear it works very well, I haven't wrapped my head around a condioner to neutralize after relaxing.

Elucence Acidifying works very well and my hair is not stripped feeling at all. Another bonus is that the tiniest amount gives a very heavy lather...the bottle will last me years.

Mizani Butter Blends has a normalizing conditioner that is rich with ceramides. I use this in place of the mid protein step. It strengthens and conditions and at the same time drastically brings my hair's ph down. And is able to penetrate deep within my strands to halt the relaxing process that is occuring in the strand. I leave this on for 10 minutes. I still use the color indicator neutralizing shampoo after to make sure that all the relaxer is off the surface.

@NaiyaAi
To the op- I agree that the ORS neutralizer is harsh. I also incorporate this, but I only use it for one shampoo (because of the EDTA- Chelator), because it is so harsh. I then use a sensitive scalp neutralizing shampoo for the remainder of the neutralizing process. By the way, I use the Mizani Butter Blend Sensitive Scalp Relaxer.

I was using Mizani lye butter blends, switched to ORS lye olive oil but neutralize with silk elements neutralizing shampoo or linange neutralizing conditioner, along with a wash of Isoplus for its color code. Neutralizer is neutralizer. As long as I don't look like Mayra from Martin, I'm good!

Thanks for the tips ladies, I've noticed the ORS shampoo leaves my hair dry as straw after I use it. I'm now going to try the mizani conditioner and shampoo x
