If you are considering going natural, please check this out!!!

FilthyFresh-DO YOU! My new growth while transitioning was NOTHING AT ALL like my real texture. It was scab hair. It was so dry, couldn't comb through it, scraggly, omg it was awful. But, after I grew my hair out a bit, it began to soften up. So tell her to sit the hell down. I hate when people act like that toward natural hair, like having unprocessed hair is a terrible or hideous thing!

Thanks girl. I have some areas that are like your hair, little spirals, but then I also have waves. So I'm kind of weird in that regard. But I'm only 11 weeks post so I'm sure that I have much more growing to do before I see my actual texture. And I can't wait to see it. I'm not a big fan of wearing fake hair, but this NG is crazy! LOL. So I might have to invest in some phony ponys or half wigs or something.

Just when I think I'm through with PJism, someone posts another rave. When will I learn that it doesn't work on my hair?! Not a single thing anyone has ever raved about, no matter how much they promise it is God's gift from heaven, has ever done much of anything to my hair. BUT, I will try the Aveda. I'll make it a point not to buy any more products so that, after a month or two, I'll feel that I've saved enough to justify spending that kind of money. I think I'll skip the shampoo; I'm happy with my Trader Joe's Nourish Spa. But out of the conditioner and treatment, is there one you'd recommend over the other?

Thanks so much, I really enjoyed listening to what you had to share and seeing all your products. Just today as I was cleaning my bathroom, I was like, I need to use things up totally before I even think of purchasing anything new. Of course, the lack of funds in my bank account helps with that resolve!

I'm a relaxed head but let me say that I really REALLY REALLY enjoyed that video. Not to mention the others you have up! Girl I'm a lil cheap soooo I'm going to have to see if I can recreate it using cheaper hypoallergenic products. You're making me want to spring for the Aveda though seriously lol.

BTW I've been thinking about transitioning. My hair's thin too and I'm sitting on 3 months of growth..... I have pretty teenie little spirals and I've been informed that it's probably scab hair.... goot times.

Wonderful video! My journey was very similar to yours. My initial reason for going natural was to have a full head of thick, from root to tip, luscious, healthy hair. I wasn't going natural to wear a fro, even though I loved and still love the fro, that wasn't my initial reason to let the relaxer go. The only difference in my journey was that my hair was still very thick, relaxed. I will try to post a pic. My hair was even thicker without one and that's what I wanted. I wanted hair unbelievably thick, and that's what I got. I won't say as my hair got longer that I didn't get frustrated, because I did (be careful what you ask for lol!! ), but I wouldn't change it for the world. As long as you take care of your beautiful hair, which you seem to be doing a great job of, it will thrive and thrive. I found a pic where I did a comparison back in the day...the left was Dec/03, the inset was April/02 ( I bc'd in May/02 down to about 3" of hair):

Thanks y'all, I'm so glad you liked the video! Mwedzi, I can't really choose one over the other b/c I have always used them together, I don't know the affect of using one without the other. Maybe the treatment first...here's the link. It's cheaper and you could use it alongside the shampoo and conditioner that you already own. BUT...I do know that I will be purchasing the largest sizes of both when I run out. Yes..it is expensive..but if I stop being a PJ and stop buying everything else under the sun, the costs should even out. :yep:

Thanks for posting this video. I'm transitioning now, and haven't BC'd yet, and am trying not to. However, I am also looking for products and things that will help keep my hair naturally soft, from the inside out (i.e. vitamins)

Yeah, I did several cuts through my transition. I couldn't comfortably BC and wear it out. But in the end, it all worked out. Congrats!

LilchocolateMa,
YOU ARE MY HAIR SIS, i am 6 months into my transition only to discover my hair grows in spiral. What do you use to detangle you hair as i find its diffucult to detangle those tiny spirals.
any info is helpful
thanks

Well hey!!!! I feel like kind of an oddball, because I have never really had trouble detangling. :ohwell: I normally just finger comb it, and when I apply a curling aide, they spirals just spring out, and I separate them with my fingers.

Hey, it seems am probably having detangling issues because i still have relaxed hair at the ends. hopefully it wont be an issue when fully natural.
thanks

thanks for this! a little part of me always itches to go natural, and i always fall in love with every natural head I see on this board! but I do not think I could ever BC (i have never seen my hair really short), and I just do not know how I would transition (I do not like how I feel in braids, weaves or wigs so I would not be able to use them to help). i still do not know how I feel but this video was definitely inspirational! you and your hair are beautiful, so thanks for taking the time to share :)

I completely understand. BC'ing was really tough for me. Definitely take your time considering it, it's a HUGE change!!! Good luck!!
