:lachen::lachen::lachen:
I am having a terrible time keeping my lips moisturized, I have lip balm stashed all over my house and car like an alcoholic for myself and my boys.

My 4 year olds lip has cracked open since we were couped up in the house because of the snow. And I was keeping his lips balmed:wallbash:

Anyway it occured to me as I was applying the lip balm for the one thousandth time. If my heater is doing this to my lips, and my baby lips. My Word what is it doing to my hair???????

Now I have said I keep my hair baggie when I am at home. but sometimes
I take the bag off for a few hours. well when i do that
everytime I feel like I need to reapply my lip balm.
I also spritz my hair:grin:

Just thought I would share my Eureka moment with you ladies

Its so crazy that you should mention this. I was JUST reading some old threads about Wanake and looking at some of the information on her website. http://www.hairoil.com/hairguides.htm.

She mentioned that if the air drys out your lips and your hands then surely its drying out your hair. So, its seems like you have a good system going. If you're lips are drying out then your hair maybe suffering too.

I don't know about yall but this harsh winter has my hands constantly ashy, lips perpetually flaky and dry, and I could moisturize & seal my hair 3 times a day and still have dryness....sheesh!
I can't wait til the weather warms up:yep:

dang, i've been moisturizing my body 2x a day and lip balm or shea butter like a million times a day cause i'm so dry even with all the water and healthy fat i get in my diet. good post, i've been moisturising and sealing daily now.

:look:I have about 1000 tubes of lip balm stashed around my house and car so I totally feel you, OP! I try to wear my silk scarf when I'm in the house, for this very reason!

My 4 year old has never had a dry lip problem until this year
and I have been on my HHJ for almost 3 years this is the first time my hair has been this dry during the winter. I know it has to be my 50 year old heater.

It's funny I keep my hair covered so much my DH didn't know I braided my hair last month:lachen:
I gave him hard time about it.:yep: lovingly of course

If my lips are dry I drink water. I heard that dry lips are one of the first ways you can tell if a baby is getting dehydrated. I figured it would work for me too. Never thought about this as far as my hair was concerned. Thanks for the tip.

My 7 y/o son and I have dry lips like crazy the past winter....and we both have super dry hair as well...It probably has a lot to do with the constant heat in my house this winter...we are both lip balm junkies....I normally just drink tons of water...gonna have to pay more attention to my hair right now....Great tips

My lips have been so dry this winter--even as I type this. Now I wonder how much it has been affecting my hair. I keep my scarf on in the house and mostly wear my wig outside, so my hair isn't really exposed to the cold. I have stopped my moisturizing routine, though.

Thanks for this thread, OP. Now I know that I need to get back on it.

That never entered my mind....I upped my water intake to keep PTL at bay, didn't realize I was helping my hair as well. Good observation about the lips OP.

my boys love to drink water
I think it's just been the constant exposure to our heat in the house.

Try eucerin on your 4 year old's lips. It helps me a lot during the winter because the corners of my lips will crack. It is whitish so you may want to just use it at night or when he's just at home.

As for hair, my humidifier is awesome. I bought it for my sinuses, but it also helps my skin and hair. Love it, love it, love it, and love it.

This has never occured to me before! and I feel like this winter is the worst one yet..my skin is soo dry and my eczema has began to fight me full force...I definitely have to be sure to keep hydrated and keep my hair hydrated too!

I've found that putting on a huge stock pot of water on the stove and letting it simmer uncovered on medium heat for an hour helps me a lot with dryness since I don't have a humidifier.

Also adding more fats to my diet helps keep me moisturized from the inside out in the winter.

Yes, I swear by my humidifiers. I have two at home and one in my office. They work wonders!
I wish I could bring one into my job. The heat makes it so dry, my nose starts burning. Thank God for nasal spray.

la mosca is your humidifiers warm or cool mist? i have been wanting to get one but im not sure which one i should buy.
I know this was aimed at la mosca, but I bought cool mist because I had heard that it was easier for bacteria to spread because they thrive in warm, moist areas. Here's an article from about.com about the differences and which may be best for you. http://housewares.about.com/od/humidifiersdehumidifiers/f/coolwrmhumidify.htm

I will say this, I love my cool mist, but in my experience it does cool the room. So, if you have a poorly heated room in the first place, it's going to add on to that.

^^^Yes, I use cool mist humidifiers as well. They do cool the room, which is why I'm always bundled up LOL.
