If A Man Tells You: " You Make Me Feel Complete & Whole"?

I was discussing this with someone a couple of days ago:

Someone from my past told me that he felt complete and whole, when we were together. Uhmmmm, my question at the time was what were you when I was not around?

Do statements like that alarm you?

Personally, I will never let a man be the reason for my feeling complete or whole. If I am not complete and whole before I meet you, then I certainly am not complete and whole after I meet you. No man completes me, they may “compliment” me, if we are equally yoked in some way, but complete me … :lachen::ohwell::nono:

Yeah
Those are red flag statements. I would watch out for clinginess etc.
I understand how that can be innocent. Like maybe you are opposites and you make the perfect person together....by equalling each other out.
But I would keep my eye on him.

My alarm goes off whenever I hear statements like that. I don't complete you fool! And you don't complete me, I was whole when I met you. That is a big red flag for me.

I'm not with this person anymore, but the topic came up with all of the specials on about dating violence and teen dating violence(i am NOT a teen). My best friend and I started to discuss “old flames”, warning signs of insecurity, etc etc …

I wouldn't take that statement alone as a red flag. I think a guy saying that may just be so crazy about you and feel especially happy when he is with you. If he's also saying he can't live without you and is really possessive, etc. Then maybe. Otherwise to me it just sounds like a guy who is caught up in his feelings for you.

Maybe thats what he meant when he said complete. The same thing you meant by complimenting him or him complimenting you. :ohwell:
