Theres this associate of mine. She had her mom put a relaxer on her head (as she normally does)...And she left it on for 2 HOURS!!! because "she couldn't be bothered to wash it out". On top of that she dyes it. Now she complaining because its fried and now she has to put it in extensions. I was lyke u should be happy u still have hair. What are women these days coming to?

It's just ignorant. there is a difference. She obviously does not know what to do with her hair and may need a little direction.

Hey, before i found hair sites on the net, my hair used to be a mess. All people used to do was talk about my hair instead of giving me tips on how to gain healthy hair.

Honestly ask this lady if she really wants to get healthy hair. If she says yes, point her to our board and give her some of your tips

2 hours? I'm surprised she didn't suffer from serious scalp burns - or even that she still has hair. Shamboosie (yes, he of the infamous book) did an experiment with relaxer where he left it on some hair he'd clipped for a day. When he returned, the relaxer had eaten all the way through the hair. I hope your associate will be open to any help you can give her.

I agree with Elite Chiq; the processing times are listed on the box/jar ...the knowledge was available, she just chose to ignore it. E C maybe you should try to help her, but if she is that lazy...it may not be worth the effort, but I guess trying to help wouldn't hurt either. Everyone on the board is so wonderful and dedicated, they may be able to bathe her in the knowledge of the forum. Good Luck!!!

2 hours???? Oh my! Well, that's not as bad as what I read on another hair site where someone said they fell asleep with relaxer on! I have no words. Actually, that's just unbelievable to me.

I agree in that she just needs some advice about hair. Perhaps you can suggest that she visit the forum and recommend books such as "Hair Rules," "Beautiful Black Hair," and Susan Taylor's "Brown Skin," they all offer wonderful healthy hair care advice.

I am shocked that someone could withstand having a relaxer on their hair for hours much less overnight

. How could they stand the burning?

If I left a relaxer on for 2 hours, my scalp would be fried. But it's not that crazy really, there are alot of women out there who don't realise how strong those chemicals are. I've seen other people do it before, and if my scalp wasn't so sensitive I might have done it too, you just think, the longer you leave it in the straighter your hair will be. Good thing I know better now.....that girl just needs some help.
