shampoos. I've never done one myself at home before and think I could really use it. My hairdresser use to do this on me. She called it a "preclean" and charge an extra $30 for it ($ cdn)!!! I kind of always that it was a scam. I didn't realize you really were supposed to strip your hair every once in a while. thanks in advance!

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

Nexxux Aloe Rid Clarifying Shampoo is my personal choice. Very gentle, but does the job.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

I've used the Nexxus Aloa Rid and I liked it. It did get the job done for me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

Ladies will any shmpoo that lathers well do or does it actually have to be a clarifying shampoo?

Also how often is one supposed to clarify?

one?? I sound like the queen of england /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

I use Kenra Clarifying Shampoo. It does a good job of clarifying without leaving my hair feeling too stripped.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

My favourite is l'anza's Deep Cleansing Shampoo. Its PH balanced, gentle and leaves the hair squeeky clean. I find it makes conditioners work better too since it removed all the build up. I'm on my 3rd bottle now and love it. It doesn't dry out the hair either, just makes it feel lighter and bouncier.

Londondiva, a clarifying shampoo is esp. formulated to removed product build up and oils etc. More so than a regular shampoo. I use a clarifying shampoo approx once a month ish to get the hair back to 'the beginning' of being completely free of any product residue, removing any silicone bases, oils, gels, styling product build up etc. A regular shampoo does not do this.

I don't know if the Paul Mitchell Tea Tree shampoo is a clarifying shampoo, but it definitely cleans really well and gives your scalp a tingly feeling.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarif

I use that Suave stuff fer now. Don't like it, but I'm guessing most clarifying shampoos give that squeeky clean feeling to hair.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

I use Paul Mitchell too and it does clarify well but for me very drying but I still like it!

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

brownrelaxedhair,

My favourite is l'anza's Deep Cleansing Shampoo.

I didn't know it was used as a clarifying shampoo. Is that shampoo the same one that doesn't have the SLS in? If that is the case then I am going to switch because the Biosynthesis has SLS in it.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

my favorite is pantene and also biosynthesis. they are both very good and whenever i use them i feel like i am starting all over cause my hair is just soo clean /images/graemlins/crazy.gif.
nay

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

BRH thanks for the explanation.

Nay007 What is the name of the Pantene shampoo that you use? Seeing as we both are in Europe and it's easy to get hold of and cheap I'll try this one first as a claryfying shampoo.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm probably going to check out Nexxus or KMS since these are available in Canada where I live.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

hairfanatic,

The lanza has TEA lauryl sulfate and sodium cetyl sulfate. Not SLS so I don't know if these are a different version of an SLS and if so, are better /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hope this helps?

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

BRH the Tea Sulfate is very mild and near the bottom if not at the bottom of the sulfate family. I'm not sure about the cetyl though.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

I usually use a clarifying shampoo and conditioner every 6 weeks i also believe {andre oprah's hairstylist does this} stated in his book the kind i use is HERBAL ESSENCE CLARIFYING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER. /images/graemlins/clap.gif

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

Dax Vegetable Oil Shampoo is a very gentle inexpensive clarifying shampoo that really deep cleans and doesn't strip the hair.

I used to use Pantene's clarifying shampoo (it was pretty good) and Suave's clarifying shampoo (it was drying to my hair).

Thanks Brownrelaxedhair,

Yes, it did help /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

I absolutely love Aussie Citrifier. You can also add baking soda to your regular shampoo.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

I have a free sample size bottle of Biosynthesis shampoo. I'll have to use it and see how my hair likes it. I tried it a long while ago, so I don't remember how my hair responded to it. I'm looking forward to trying it this go around.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

Well, the Biosynthesis was ok, but not as good as my Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo. This stuff is great for clarifying.

I didn't know Giovanni had a clarifying shampoo. I use their leave in and if that is the case, I need to also look into their shampoo. It definately would keep me from having to order over the Internet, something I'm starting to hate. /images/graemlins/smile.gif What did you like about the Giovanni but didn't about Biosynthesis? Do you think the Giovanni was more moisturizing?

It does a better job at clarifying my hair. On the back of the bottle, it indicates that it's more of a clarifying shampoo versus a moisturizing shampoo. I always follow up with a good moisturizing conditioner when I do use it (which isn't very often).

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

Baking soda mixed with any kind of shampoo.

Vinegar rinse.

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

Thanks Allandra, I appreciate the information! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I\'d love to have some recs for yor fave clarifying

I know I'm posting on this thread late but I just had to mention Avalon Lemon Verbena clarifying shampoo. It's organic and very gentle on my relaxed hair while managing to thoroughly clean my hair.
