Good Gracious, I hope not. I would like to see a diversity of textures and styles and length and panelists who don't just regurgitate tired old methods that never really worked.

I don't think Andre Walker would be a good panelist either. Some of his theories about Type 4 hair were short-sighted and narrow-minded.

I was imagining Andre getting mad with some of the ladies on this board. I think it's hard for many stylists to listen to anyone outside of their community. I also don't think they want it all this knowledge to get into the public's hands because that could effect their business.

Years ago Oprah did a show about beauty shops. Many people criticized beauticians so she had another show that deals with issues beauticians have with their customers.

That is excellent and practical. It makes me wonder why in all of O's years, why hasn't this been dug into already?

I was just about to say the same thing.

I always imagined them featuring many ladies on this board. Besides the Admin. I always imagined Macherieamour(for relaxed ladies and her saran wrap technique) and MsJadu(for the natural ladies) being featured.

Wow- that was really kind of you!!! Thanks, thats a huge compliment:p

Very well written. I admire you for approaching Oprah with such an interesting and much needed topic. I have also wondered why so many AA celebrities start out in the industry with their own hair and then turn eternally weave-a-licious. (example, Jennifer Hudson).

If Oprah does do a show on this maybe she can have a panel of celebrities give their opinions too.

What a wonderful letter!!!! I certainly hope that, even if Oprah chooses not to do a show on it, she features it on her site with her own thoughts and/or commentary.

That was a very well written letter. I believe her producers should be given the LHCF web address so they can "see for themselves" what we are so passionate about. :yep:

Nice letter, wold make a wonderful topic, if only Oprah were open to doing something like that, but sadly she is not. I do hold out hope that once she announces her retirement date, she will be willing to take on more subjects that affect us particularly, like the issues concerning hair.

Great letter. Very well-written and to the point! A show like Oprah's is just what we need to educate the world (and in the process, ourselves) about the elusive mystery that is AA hair! I reeeally hope her producers decide to stare this issue in the face once and for all... it's high time we stop tip toeing around it!

Very eloquent and spoken from the heart ..I second your views and would love to know if they respond.

Man that was a great idea because even though I love me some Oprah sometimes her hair (getting ghetto on ya) be supa jacked up! Even the president of HARPO (or some ceo) told her she needed to do something. She said it was due to her getting a relaxer and her hair became straight, flat and frizzy. :poke: Hey Oprah-maybe macherie or claudie or some of the other LHCF ladies can recommend something.

Your letter was very well put together. :) I have mixed feelings about media attention, tho. I want to see everyone educated, but I dont want to see our LHCF community over run all at once. Y'all know Oprah viewers can shut a server down in 3 minutes. Dont get mad when you cant log into LHCF for a month once y'all make us famous.

Very funny:lol: and true!

Great letter and well written. I hope she selects the topic. I think I'll send an e-mail as well.

She also has topics of discussion on "Oprah and Friends", if anyone has XM satellite Radio. The channel is 156.

I can see Gale discussing it during her radio program that comes on.

You're very welcome. You would be perfect as one of the representatives of beautiful healthy hair. :)

I can just see her lead in now:

"Black women desperate to have long hair. . . .
We expose the website dedicated to the extremes they will go to achieve a dream. . . next on today's Oprah."

You know it has to be sensationalized. That's my only concern. Trying to encapsulate 3+ years of discussion about the psychology, sociology, proper care of multi-textured hair into a 4-5 minute segment. That's just misinformation and half-truths waiting to happen.

Yeah, thats the other thing. As someone else mentioned, SHE would have to be educated first because she had made too many sterotypical references to black hair in the past, and if she doesnt know the truth she cant be expected or trusted to do the topic justice. I dont want to sound like the voice of doom, I'm just cautious in my optimism.
