I want a silky Rollerset!

Seems like everytime I rollerset my hair, it doesn't come out silky at all, just blah. Don't get me wrong, I do have curls. Are there any particular products that will give me silkiness, or do I need to flat iron for this effect? I think I have pics in my Hair Journal, do your home rollerset's come out this way? Thanks!

Why don't you try mixing some Lottabody Setting Lotion and Keracare Setting Lotion? You have to dilute the Lottabody because it's concentrated. I started mixing both because though Lottabody gives me a really firm set, sometimes it's too firm. I have the opposite problem with Keracare; it doesn't give me enough hold. Mixing them together along with water works really well for me, and gives me a nice silky but firm set.

I checked out your album, and your hair is really pretty! You mentioned finger combing a rollerset before doing an actual comb out. Have you tried just finger combing alone? That's what I do with my roller sets and they come out really well. Matter of fact, the only time I comb my hair is every 4th day, after I shampoo. Anyhoo, didn't mean to lecture. Good luck!:)

I enjoyed your pictures. I love your makeup looks. I'm gonna try the setting lotion combo kitkat suggested.

You could also try making smaller sections. From what I can see, it looks like your putting too much hair on each roller. If you can manage them, try using end wraps too. I swear by those to keep hair smooth when doing roller sets.

After having several "blah" rollersets myself, I finally figured out a method to getting silky, soft rollersets. The trick for me has been using a liquid leave in as a setting agent, instead of a setting lotion, foam, cream, etc. After I wash and condition my hair, I apply a small amount of creamy leave-in conditioner (either Lacio Lacio, At One or Empress Moisture Retaining), and then spray a liquid leave in (either Back To Basics Sunflower or Razac) on my hair. As I'm rolling, I keep the spray bottle of liquid leave-in next to me to re-wet strands if they become dry. I've found that if a section of hair that I'm rolling becomes dry, my sets don't turn out well. For me, each section has to be saturated with the leave-in.

This method has done wonders for me!!!! My rollersets always come out soft & silky and my curls have much more bounce. HTH!!! :)

A liquid leave in, a silicone serum and some wrap lotion...keep the hair damp and roll your hair taunt...magnetic rollers or mesh rollers work well.
