Relaxer,,whateva u call it..i want a strait style..i wanna roller set..i want it now! Im tired of this afro...
sorry, just venting...but really..i am gonna relax it..enuff natural for me..

i feel ya. i wore my hair natural for a year and felt like that. i still love natural hair but mine was highly unstylable. (if that's a word) i say do what's best for you.

Hey asummertyme
I see that your location is Brooklyn NY- if you want that straight look go to Maribels (they do a great job on naturals!!!)- they have two locations on Flatbush- don't get a perm

My only advice is to wait a couple of weeks before you relax. And then if you still want to, try a blow out or something else first. AND THEN if you still want to, go for it. Sometimes we go through moods or phases and do something hasty which we regret.

I had the same feeling when I was natural. I craved a strait style and not a curly one. The problem is that even with a relaxer, my hair will not hold and keep a strait style. We will support the choice u make, but please make sure that it is truly what you want.

You said that you're tired of the 'fro. Have you tried any other natural styles? Maybe it's the style and not the texture that's bothering you. Even a blowout or sleek flat iron job (Maxiglide is great) can help this feeling.

Yeah- I would get a blow out at the places mentioned above. If you still want to go ahead-just wait a couple weeks and then relax. I just don't want you to make any quick decisions you may regret

WOW! Is it that bad? A blow out wont satisfy it?

Why is it "bad" that she wants a straight look?!

Dang, a sista saying she needs a change in her appearance and all the sudden "it's" bad. People kill me....

I go back and forth between natural and relaxed too. It's our hair, why shouldn't we change it at our whim?

Whoa! I was looking for a "just kidding" when I scrolled.

Can ya think about it some more until next Neveruary? LOL Ok...what about next week?

Girl it's only hair. Do what you WANT to do!

Let the dominicans hook you up!

I ain't mad at you for wanting a straight style, but the expense and headaches involved with stretching and touch ups come right along with making a permanent change.

Good luck whatever you do.

I was talking about this today.
When I get the "I want straight hair " thing going I just use someone else's straight hair. In other words WEAVE IT !. Check my albulm for straight up straight hair.

 Nobody said it was bad, people are just cautioning her against acting too hastily by relaxing as opposed to doing something temporary. I think you may have misread what beyondcute wrote...

LOL! I have yet to see these types of responses on a thread about BC or transitioning. "Just do a braidout and wait a few weeks! Don't go natural yet!"

It's just jokes, yall. Don't stone me.:)

For real, Asummertyme, it's your hair. I actually think it's a good idea to get a blowout first. You may end up not even liking your hair straight. If you do, you could always texturize so that you could have straight or textured.

BlackC, girl you right. My bad BeyondCute. I just get so defensive when it comes to this type of subject. I didn't mean to get so negative in that thread. I hope you forgive me homey:cool:.

Yes, a good Dominican salon are known to do serious blow-outs. Made my daughter's hair look like a relaxer without actually getting one. You could get it, clip your ends, and then take it from there. I think we all get frustrated with our hair from time to time. Just change it up for a little while, that's all. Let us know what you decide.

Hey Asummertyme
I brought my natural friend to maribels about 4 years ago for a blow out and they did a great job- a girl name Sulanka.... (my friend had about three inches of hair- and it looked amazing!!!
but beware they use a lot of heat when your natural they don't even bother to rollerset they just go straight at it with the blow dryer....
Call and find out if she is still there (most of the girls leave eventually and I know she was there for atleast 6 years prior to the last time i was there)-

I am thinking of going there this weekend or next week for a wash and set .... HTH

Also if you have a sedu flat iron that has done the trick for me - use some sort of serum and you will be okay

I feel you asummertyme, sometimes I just get so tired of hair. Some days I love my hair  and feel so beautiful, some days I just feel so blah. Good luck girl. Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll be beautiful. Just do what makes you feel happiest;).

You should try to get a straight look for a while but just be careful with the amt of heat some may use as u may get some permanent straight pieces.
