I think I got a compliment

Think Slim
I went to the white salon that I go to for a dusting yesterday. I've been there many times already, but I guess it's usually so busy that no one ever notices me. I also don't get it washed, just a dry dusting, so I'm in and out.

Well, while the girl is sectioning my hair, this other stylist says, "Is all of that your hair?"

I guess I can take that as a compliment, right? I'm actually shocked that my hair is still so full, because I did lose a lot from shedding.

/images/graemlins/rofl.gif guess you're right KAddy. I was just surprised, cuz my hair is short now; it's only at my collar bone.

Sounds like your hair is REALLY thick! /images/graemlins/smile.gif Keep it up girl! /images/graemlins/up.gif

Yeah hair must be very thick then.

I would take it as a compliment. I only wish someone would ask me if that is all my hair. However, I am sure it won't be that much longer.

I'm sorry Webby, I'm sure it was meant as a compliment, but I would have been insulted. Collar bone hair being asked if it's real? Unbelievable.

KAddy, you just stick around here. These sistahs will hook you UP! I have learned so many wonderful incredible things since joining this board.

Now, granted, I have always had a lot of hair, but I have learned how to maintain it and how to prevent the post-partum shedding I was experiencing.

I bet you'll be reporting positive changes in no time.

MizAvalon, I was a little perplexed when she said that, but couldn't ask her why she asked, because someone interrupted. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

I would've been insulted only because it was coming from a white person....only because most of them seem to think we can't grow hair. Over the years, I've had so many white people ask me "Do black people's hair grow?" What kind of a stupid question is that? /images/graemlins/nono.gif

Webby, how long is your hair? do u have any pics yet? I also remember when u posted a thread about Frenchee making your hair grow fast...do u still use that for hair growth???

Carlie, that's exactly what I was thinking, but I didn't want to read too much into it.

You're right about not reading into it too much. I think it's best to take it w. a smile and just brush it off! Thick hair no matter what length can be extremely beautiful...and I'm sure yours is! /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Pooh, I had a couple of pics up a while back, but took them down, as I had them on my own personal website and someone was using them as the butt of their jokes. I really don't care what ppl say about me, just don't want ppl I don't know accessing the other pics I have of my son.

My hair is about your length in your Avatar. I've had so many different lengths: about 3-4 inches past brastrap, super short halle berry, currently keeping a very blunt, bob.

BTW, I don't recall posting anything about Frenchee. My hair grows rather quickly, but I think that the quick growth is just based upon genetics, however maintaining that length is due to a good regimine.

I agree. I think it was sly and insulting... stated as if "She couldn't grow all that hair" or "Black women usually have weaves".

I don't see it as a compliment at all. /images/graemlins/angry2.gif
