I spent 5 hours on my hair today! (pics moved to fotki)

I'm tired as all get out. I don't know if I can do this again. I got a relaxer last week and this was my first wash.

7:30 - 8:00 Washed with Kenra Shampoo
Used Nexxus Emergencee
Washed again with Kenra Shampoo
Put on ORS Pack, took shower
8:00-9:30 Let ORS Pack sit on my head while I fixed my stupid router
9:30-9:45 Rinsed conditioner and looked up Macheriamour's rollersetting tutorial
9:45-11:30 Tried to follow tutorial to the T but still messed up somewhat on the sides of the "mohawk"
Used water, NTM leave in and Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum
11:30-12:30 Sat under the dryer sweating, and thats why my face looks so greasy.

Do you guys think I can get this down to like 3 hours because this is too much, I have never spent this much time on my head even when I used to try to press my afro out.

My hair feels wonderful, I know it might not look like much its not long and flowing but I feel like a do it yourselfer now!

Once you get that time down to a minimum you'll be all right. I strongly recommend that you practice roller sets on dry hair. That's what I did when I first started relaxing; now I can do rollersets in my sleep.

You still did great and your hair looks really pretty. Keep up the good work!

Looking good!!!

When it comes to rollersetting, practice makes perfect. Rollersetting was my thing when I was relaxed. Once I got the hang of it, it eventually got to the point to where I would only spend about 15 minutes rollersetting with one inch rollers.

it looks really good!! well you won't have to do that first bit every week with the emergencee and double pooing so that can be cut to like 5-10 minutes. And the rollersetting will def get down to like 45 minutes or so with practice!! :yep:

If you didn't have other things to do you could cut back on DC time by getting under the dryer for 20 minutes or so. Once you get the hang of rollersetting it'll be a breeze!! You'll be able to do it with your eyes closed!! Good luck, your hair looks really nice!

Thanks you guys! I'm going to try to practice with dry rollers. I'll probably be trying to rollerset every week instead of airdrying like I used to because it seemed like airdrying was doing more harm than good.

Now that I think about it, the emergencee took up time and I can cut down on my DC time too.

Your hair looks great. I went from 4 hours to to 2 1/2. It takes so long because of the rollersetting and drying.

great job!!! Your hair looks like it has a lot of body!! :yep:

I'm going to practice rollersetting on dry hair also. That's a good suggestion--because I can't seem to get it down either. I get so frustrated when I try to rollerset---my clips just won't stay on!

Anyway--keep it up, I'm sure you'll get better with more practice and chop that time in half!!

It looks so light, shiny, and bouncy! You're using quality products and good techniques...so your hair is gonna love you for all of the TLC. You will learn to cut down on time. But shampooing, DCing, and rollersetting all at once does take time....well spent time!! Keep it up.

You did a very nice job tho....Just think that you would probably be in a salon for that length of time as well. If we can doit ourselves, let's do the dang thang!!!

I totally agree with Cleve_grly. You used up a lot of time with the ORS pak on your hair. That was an hour and 30 mins that could have been 20 to 30 mins tops. You will get the hang of the rollersetting I just know! I came out very pretty.

TSU....seriously, I need you to give me some one on one help with the rollersetting!!!

I love your set!!

As the other ladies have said, I am sure it will take less time each time you do it!

I was reading your post and looked at the pictures thinking - wow, what beautiful hair - I had to do a double take at this quotes line.

You hair is beautiful - you are beautiful, and you should be very proud of yourself. The time thing will work itself out. I usually take hours too because I do other things while the conidtioner is doing its thing, but that's just me. You can, as has been suggested, sit under tthe dryer with the DC which will take off a chunk of time, and as you get more practice with roller sets, you'll be faster.

I think the most important thing - be pleased and proud of yourself - do not equivocate - your hair is beautiful all by itself; it's not necessary to compare with others.

ITA :yep:. Your hair is LOVELY!!

Looks great! The more you do rollersets the faster you will get. The downside is the longer your hair gets the longer it will take to dry though.

Thanks you guys, sorry for the late reply, my internet has been actin up!
I can't wait to keep trying to cut down on my time...if only I could do a relaxer...my stylist would never see me again!
