And it came out pretty good. I didn't put it in my own hair. My mother did it. It came out very nice, but we still need to fine tune some things. I am so happy b/c this means I am salon free! I can rollerset and blow out the roots and my mom can do my retouches. My goal is to not return to the salon until the summer. :)

Does anyone have any tips on how to get smooth silky results. Some parts are silkier than others. Does this mean that she just has to put more relaxer on the parts that arent as silky? Also, what are some good conditioners to use after u relax?

We used Precise no lye relaxer and Affirm 5 in 1 reconstructor. TIA

Congrats! I think LondonDiva and/or someone else had tips on how to self relax and get the hair smooth. Hopefully someone else will come into the thread and give the links because I do not remember exactly.

I plan on self-relaxing today (I was exactly 8 weeks post yesterday). Someone suggested before that they use the handle of a toothbrush, so that's what I'm gonna use to smooth.

As for good moisturizing conditioners after a relaxer, I like Motions After-Shampoo Moisture Plus Conditioner. It works like a charm every single time.

Contratulations, i believe the best person to take care of your hair is yourself, hairdressers at the salon don't always have your intentions in mind.

Practise and you'll be good to go and you'll be saving money in the long run.

I have details on the half half method in my fotki journal, super straight hair every time

Thank you for the replies. Lonei, I will check it out.

Navsegda, is this your first time self-relaxing?

No. But I would like to be quicker with it. There have also been a few times in the past where I underprocessed. I'm always up for improving technique. :D
