I need some help/Ideas...On better protecting my ends to retain my growth

I've been trying to get pass APL(sides) and BSL (from the back).

I have tried different protective styles. I tried the baggy method...My ends ended up tangled in knots...I'm currently buning using a doughnut with artificial hair wrapped around it...(my hair ain't thick enough and you can see some gaps where the foam pops out.)....But I'm not sure if this is the way to go.

Any ideas??? I some sort of tip to keep my ends strong healthy and what can I do?

Those of you who wear your hair down 24/7 and still get growth what do you do to your ends?

Does having a ayurvedic regimen lessen the needs of protective styles? I'm currently doing cassia.

Any tips???

I don't have enough hair for a doughnut bun either. And I think they look odd anyway. So when I bun as a PS I clip on a long fake braid (that I made) and then wrap around to form a bun. My hair is tucked in the middle and held in place by the clip. So my ends are not exposed at all. I moisturize and seal my ends before I clip the braid on to reduce any friction. I use ayurvedic procudcts but I would never soley rely on that to protect my ends.

You can also wear a French twist. A Southern Tease bun is also a nice option. There are also barrettes that are made so you can clip fake hair onto them and have your hair hidden (protected) within the fake hair.

I'm sure others will chime in with ideas as well.

I did the french twist, didn't work ....my ends tangles up.

And the other ideas?

If your ends are tangling up in a French twist then I venture to say that you are not doing it correctly. Your ends should end up at the crown of your head when the twist is complete. You then tuck and pin them neatly against your head. I have also seen those with curly hair leave the ends out for kind of an updo look. You know what I mean? So when you tewist, how are you doing it?

I would recommend moisturizing and sealing in sections, then either bunning as your PS or use wigs or half wigs with your hair braided under.
Bunning and co-washing regularly helps to keep ends moist and retain length. I found DC'ing with a light protein conditioner like ORS Replenishing weekly, strengthened my hair no end! I used a doughnut bun too but I would use colour black so it was not as obvious where my hai did not cover! Now my hair is thicker and longer, I can cover it!
Keeping the ends from getting dry is the aim of the game.
I used French twist especially with the EZ comb hair attachment things! They give great grip without discomfort and I could even fall asleep with them on!

HTHs, even a little!

Having a good amount of protein in your regimen will keep your hair and ends strong. Right now I'm gradually introducing more protein into my daily regimen. I started off by mixing a moisture and protein leave-in to use every day, and last week I used a protein quick conditioner on one of my wash days.
