I realized that God has never spoken to me no matter how much I seek him out. I don't know whether he doesn't exist or if he just hates me.

I have been in the church from the age of 7, I have prayed fervently, I talk to God everyday, I have not received any answers. I feel ignored.

The one thing I would like to share with you is that prayer is talking to God. Sometimes, God will not answer the way we think He will....he will use a child, a paragraph in a book, a commercial on television...it's endless.

What is important is for us to be spiritually intune to listen and not with our ears, but with our spirit. You must also know where your heart is and if are you ready for the answer that He will give you? Sometimes God will not give us the answer because we are not prepared for it...and/or we will not receive it the way He gives it to us.

There is a story (which I don't know if it really happened or not, but its a good story nonetheless)

A man climbed onto his roof during a very bad flood. He cried out, “O Lord save me.” And then he waited for God to save him.

A little while later a man in a canoe paddled by and offered him a ride. He said “No, the Lord will save me.” Next a man in a motor boat came by and offered him a ride to safety. He said, “No the Lord is going to save me.” A third time someone came by to help, this time it was a helicopter with a rope ladder. The water was up onto the roof, but he waved the helicopter away. “the Lord will save me”, he said.

Well the house was covered and the man fell into the water and died. When he got up to heaven he was angry. He asked an angel, “Why didn’t the Lord save me?” The angel looked on his computer and said, “Well, it says here that a canoe, a boat and a helicopter were sent, but you refused.”

Sometimes the problem is that we do not recognize the answer that God sends.

Also, when we ask for something from God we also need to look for it. “Seek and you shall find.”

Suppose a friend says to you, “I lost my glasses! I can’t see anything. I have asked God to help me.” You say, “Good, can I help you look?” And they say, “Look? God will bring them to me!” No, your friend needs to seek the answer that God sends.

When we pray for wisdom or guidance or for safety or for a new job, we still have to seek after those things. If you pray for a job, then you can go look with confidence. But you should not just wait around.

Praying involves an active search for the answer that God sends and that comes also via His Word. When Samuel was sent to choose the next King of Israel, he was lead to the house of Jesse. He looked at each of Jesse’s sons, but none of them were the one God wanted. So finally Samuel said, “Do you have another son?” and they said, “Yes, the youngest son is with the sheep.” That was the one. Samuel had to look for the answer that God sent.

So, there are 3 things that we need to do: First we need to Ask. Second we need to look. Third we need to knock.

Suppose you have another friend. He has been praying for a new job. He heard about a place that was hiring workers. He called and made an appointment with the secretary. Then he put on a good suit, combed his hair, and made sure his shoes were polished. When he got to the company, they sent him to the office of the boss. When he arrived, he saw a door. It was a large heavy door. It had the boss’s name on a brass sign. He got this far and stopped. “How can I get through this door? What is on the other side?” All of a sudden he got afraid and went home. No, he needed to knock on the door in order to get what he needed.

Jesus teaching is that we need to Ask, Seek and Knock. God will answer us when we pray. We may not get the answer we want right away or the answer we thought we were going to get. We might have to search for it. We might have to open a few doors to get to it. But the answer is there.

When you pray it is important for do you do this...Pray and continue to pray and search and knock. Do not give up, because God promises to give an answer. Searching is also reading and studying His Word.

My prayer is that you will find peace in knowing that God is real, alive and well. Also, that He is always with you, never ever leaving you alone.

I will be praying for you and I believe that God, Our Father, will give you the answers that you seek....really soon!

Blessings to you,

I realized that God has never spoken to me no matter how much I seek him out. I don't know whether he doesn't exist or if he just hates me.

I've felt like the bolded from time to time, but I know my mind is playing games with me. I know how you feel; especially when you hear other people having a FABULOUS relationship with God.

Yeah, I am not the kind of person to get close to people (church folks included), but I always talk to God, it just feels like a one-sided conversation. I do listen, everything I do is with God in mind. He is my father where I have no earthly one.

I too have had times like this where I feel that God doesn't talk to me, but like a previous poster said, its about listening, and watching. He will not always use a dream, or a Word you actually hear in your mind. Maybe pray and ask God to show you how to hear His voice. Sometimes I find I am way too distracted by other things and give God two minutes of prayer when I'm down and out and want instant results. I realized the closer I stay to Him, (through prayer, worship, reading the Word, and sometimes fasting while doing the above things) the better and clearer the connection is. Maybe you could try this?

Also notice the God works with principles-sometimes there are bad habits or sinful things in our life we need to get rid of for God to take us to the "next level" (not saying you're doing this, but it may be a possibility). However if this is the case, just call out to Him, confess, and ask for forgiveness Other principles are that God cannot lie, and He said He will never leave you or forsake you, (Deu 31:8) he knows the thoughts that he has towards you, they are for good and not for evil (Jer 29:11-12) hold him to this, and say it in your prayers. Remind yourself of it whenever you're feeling this way... Don't give up, He really does love you too much. You too, were created with a purpose.

Yes, yes. Or the devil. But like the other ladies have stated - God answers in different ways, in His time. We are the ones that have to listen and trust that He indeed will speak to us, and He actually takes delight in doing so.

And He doesn't hate you OP - you are precious in His sight. :yep:

God is love right..so hate isn't in him..he is straight about things he doesnt like but he wouldnt have made you to hate you..Im far from a christian..im just me..I believe in God and what it means to live the lifestyle..but you must remember that we as humans will self-project issues on ourselves to the point that we start to feel the lies are truth..your perception is your reality..I know this first hand..im fluffy and it shows..I come from a poor family..I have alot of past baggage which really had me as though done..but I know the things that God calls me are true..your relationship with God is what you make of it..
