Aww honey. I am sorry you feel that way, but just like everyone else has said, youwill get used to it. Also, just dress it up and let your confidence shine. In the meantime, here is some inspiration because these beautiful sisters do not look like boys.

You're going to be ok. Its too late to turn back now. I say throw on a hat and run to your closest BSS or CVS, grab some products and have fun!

Congratulations on your BC!

I was where you are about ten months ago. I remember crying after my friend cut off my relaxed ends. I kept the hair for like 2 weeks LOL as if I thought I could reattach it. I wore it under a scarf for like a week and even dh never saw it.
It will take time and there were still days that I would look in the mirror and be like " where is my hair ?!?!" and the hair you do have is so different from
what you're used to.
But now starts the fun/frustrating part :) finding out how to take care of your hair what it likes, seeing yourself like you've never seen yourself before and hopefully coming to fall in love with it.
I love my hair now and coulnt imagine it any other way. Remember that more than long straight hair makes you a woman :)

Whatever you do - don't relax again. It will grow in time... just be patient.

When I first BC'd I hid in the bathroom, until I found some confidence from somewhere and rocked that BC like I loved it.

I know it is easier said than done but you have to free your mind of the loss and the new look. Think of all the positives invovled with the change.

You can do flat twists in the front and sport a 3/4 wig.
You can do twists and lay then down with a scarf for a different look
When you add some fierce errings it will be awesome.
Sport a pretty little fro

Show us what you look like and we will give you all kinds of advice of what to do and how to do it.

Gotta make that mental shift first.

:yep:...I hate that I did not do this the last time around:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:.

Thank you for sharing your story. Your experience is the fear I have from a BC. That is why I plan on purchasing a half wig or a wig that matches my hair type when I do BC. Maybe that is something you can do. Go to the wig store girl. Oh and remember makeup and big earrings are always your friend.

I just did the BC and I love it! You may be just in a little since you are not use to seeing your hair that short. Mine is very short and I love it, just embrace it. Think of it this way you will have extra time to sleep in and you will not have to worry about a bad hair day. Here is a before and after of me. So keep your head up and embrace your natural hair. God Bless

It will be okay. A BC takes some getting used to no matter how much hair you wait for... :yep: Confidence is key. Hope you end up loving your new natural!

Awww....don't worry too much about it. When I did the BC I had at most 3" of hair in some spots. Most of my head was around 1.5-2" though. I thought I looked like a boy but everyone else thought I looked fly. I bet it looks really nice....:yep:

Really? Wow.

I was young and really ready to quit my job. I used it as an excuse. :perplexed

That first image is the style I was talking about.

Im sitting at this computer crying and lil overwhelm at the moment because i just cut the last of my relaxed and telelaxed hair off. :crying3:I look like a boy and i refuse to walk out the house like this. My hair is i think like an inch in a half long and im scared of walking out my house like this. And its not like i can hide in my room forever i have class on Monday and i have no idea what to do excpet to wear a scarf or a hat. Don't get me wrong im glad im natural but i just don't see myself as a pretty girl anymore. I'll post pictures later tomorrow, because right now, i can even take a decent picture to post. i WAS SO WRONG TO CUT IT. :wallbash: I think im a 4 something

I seriously doubt ANYONE would mistake you for a boy. If you didn't look like a dude with long hair, you're not going to look like one with short hair.

Slap some lipgloss on, put on some earring, hold your chin up, know that you are fabulous and leave the darn house. And wipe those tears! cut it out immediately.

I did the bc and i had about 1.5 inches of hair......

I thought i looked like a boy.....

Girl but i still rocked, i had no choice but to rock it and it turned out fine...

Me too. I got my cut to an inch and went straight to the mall. People were staring at me and not because they'd mistaken me for a dude. It's all about confidence.

Girl again I say, stop crying! When you leave the house you should KNOW that no one is fly-er than you. Don't let any insecurities stop you from functioning. It's not good for your spirit and you're not doing anything but lying to yourself when you let that fear take over.

Lots of ladies on here have gone through this and have offered excellent advice. If you feel that you cannot work with the short hair, you can always try braids.

Don't worry... it will grow out... and I'm sure you do not look like a boy... and please do not see it as a mistake... especially if your ultimate goal was to have natural hair.

Not sure if it was suggested as I didn't read through the whole thread but maybe you can get some cornrows or something (cheap) to rock for a couple of weeks until you can adjust to the length. You can also do a straw set which is the first style I rocked when I cut my relaxed ends off (back when I was natural) or you can do a roller set for some curls.

and please do not see it as a mistake... especially if your ultimate goal was to have natural hair.

:ditto: poohbear..

I did my b.c. after transitioning for about 6 months...and I have to cosign what the ladies stated earlier...people respond to what you give off. confidence is the key...
I totally understand your 'trauma' but know that it will get easier to look at yourself and actually like the look. give yourself a couple days. and if not, then a good weave or braids should help 'hide' your hair for another month or two. good luck!

I'm sorry you think it was a mistake. I agree with the folks who said jazz it up w/ accessories, makeup and a smile.

I bet you look cute and just need time to get used to it.

Even if you're not usually a makeup wearer, you might wanna break out the lipgloss and mascara. It'll help you feel girly.

As for the actual hair, go get you some Fantasia IC gel and some sort of lite oil. I find that it's easier to feel less boyish if your hair has a lil sparkle and sheen to it.

You'll get through this! :yep:

A great pair of earrings, some pretty lipstick, a swish of eye makeup and you'll be an African Princess..stop fretting and DO YOU!!!

i agree with the other ladies... grab the flyest earrings on earth and some cuuute lip gloss... ROCK IT GURLLL!!!

Also, take this as a chance to realize that you have something very few of us have, the ablilty to start ALL over with our hair. Your in a position where it can only go up (or rather long in our case) from here.

HUGS!!!

I bet you so do not look like a boy! You don't even know how much fun you can have now. There are things you can do with your short TWA you won't be able to do to your hair as it gets longer. Accesorize, hold you head high and enjoy the ride! Ooohhh....you are going to get so many compliments and hit on a lot too!
