Natural again ... this time for good!
Well, gang … I got my hair flat ironed last week to check my length. As I sit here one week away from my big chop after transitioning for nearly 18 months, I just wanted to share that I was able to grow my hair back to BSL (even though it's straining to touch BSL, I'm still claiming it, dagnabit ). My transition, for the most part, has gone well; however, there’s only one issue: I have some breakage at the line of demarcation between my natural hair and my bone-straight relaxed ends.
Now my ends themselves look great, and I have little to no splits (thanks to my minimal heat reggie); so my retention has been good. But right at that line between the two textures, it was just toooooooo much. I feel like I definitely have my protein and moisture balance on lock, but I guess the texture difference was stronger than my regimen. My fine, relaxed ends couldn’t hang with my constant co-washing and wet bunning, so they were like, “We out … peace!”
Totally sucks … yes it does. Good thing I’m cutting the rest of them off next week!
Note: the breakage looks much worse in the last picture than it does in real life, so the harsh flash might have something to do with it. But I can still see some breakage when I look in the mirror.
