I have to keep my hair up...

..off of my shoulders and out of my collar (which will be hard since my neck is so short.):lachen:

I already knew that I was stuck at SL because my ends constantly rub against my shirt when I wear it down. :wallbash:

But I'm sad to say that to day I'm wearing my hair up in a clip and I just felt and heard one strand in my nape get snatched and break from my shirt collar. :nono:

This just reaffirms what the board teaches us.
We really need to keep our hair protected.

LOL

I have been wearing my hair up for so long that I actually like it and started bunning which was something I thought I would never do. It's not so bad.

I feel like buns help my hair over all, but the way that I tuck my hair under always leads to tin ends.... like the last 1/2 inch of my hair is always thin. :(

buns are low maintenance though, so i'll keep doing them. i just wish I could find a way to wear my hair up without tucking my ends into the hair band.

You know what, this may be because I'm natural, but I never really worry about my hair rubbing against things. I guess since my hair is too short in its natural state to rub against anything.

But anyway, I love having my hair up. I don't do it because I need to do it, but because I like it. Before I even heard of protective styles, I was doing them because they were my favorite.

Anyway, I'm glad you figured out what you needed to do to retain hair. Happy hair growing!

You're right, learning to live with the hair up in a protective style most of the time is hard. You get use to it after a while, and it's worth the benefits of having healthier ends and hair. We get so use to wearing our hair styled and curled, that we sometimes forget that a protective updo is a style too! You'll feel beter about it once you find a style you can live with, and don't mind wearing.

I've always been in huge favor of hiding my face and forehead behind my hair. Plus, I'm always worried about the way my "kitchen" looks in updos.
But last night I applied Rusk Smoother Leave-in Condish.... And my nape doesn't look bad at all. Its not "Relaxer" smooth but it doesn't look like I'm 16 weeks post either. :D

My hair's been in a bun so long now, I actually LIKE wearing them and feel weird when I wear my hair down.

Rock that bun, girl!!!

I am on my way to APL now, but I got past SL easily by never wearing my hair down. As my hair gets longer, I can see me continuing to embrace PS out of convenience.

I am also on my way to APL, and this is the style that's gonna get me there....

Now that Im natural some people at work was like how was your hair before...haha!!! Believe me u will see good results when u start wearin your hair up

I am with you. I need to try that Rusk Smoother Leave-In. Thanks for the rec.

I was thinking about buying some satin blouses for the reason you stated in the original post.

Out of curiousity, do those of you that like your hair down have desk jobs? I don't so if I don't put my hair up it's in my way, nappy or (especially) straight :ohwell:

This is the EXACT same style my cousin was rocking yesterday.

Maybe it will become a hot trend! Are you relaxed or natural? I'm afraid that this might puff up to much on my hair...

That was my first time using the Rusk, but I really like it. Its the end of the day and my "Kitchen" is still in good shape. Its a keeper!

We must have known each other in another life because I PROMISE I was thinking earlier today that maybe I should purchase some silk or satin fabric to line all of my collars. Heck, I still may do it.

Yes, I have a desk job and although my boss may not come in looking 100% everyday she expects me too. In the 6 years that I've been there she has commented on my hairstyles that she liked and didn't. So far she likes neat wraps and twist outs. But she HATES me in pony tails.

Your hair will thank you for it. You can also wear your hair down sometimes and you will be past SL before you know it. (((((HUGS)))))).....

Yes, I do for the most part. But, I just like to have it down -- on the weekends...whenever. I've spent the last 15 years with it straight and down almost everyday. So, having it up in a bun is a challenge.

You are so right. That is so funny. :lachen: I have been thinking this for a while now ----that when I wear my suits, I would like to hang silk or satin scarves over the back. I think I used to see this in old movies, with the triangle hanging out the collar over the back. I was thinking I might look old fashioned, but it would be great for my hair. :yep:

IDK about the whole ends rubbing against shirt thing. I used to be the type of person that had to "bun it up" or bust, but now if I want to wear it down I'll wear it down. As long as I keep my hands out of it and I'm not constantly tugging or pulling at it my hair makes progress. It also helped to do bi-weekly protein treatments to help my hair to be stronger and less prone to breakage.

We should bring this trind back. Women of Class. We could do it Audrey Hepburn style :lachen:

Seriously, this isn't a bad ideal at all.
