i have finally decided to jump on the bandwagon of bunning

after reading so many threads and hearing so many success stories about bunning and all the good it can do for your hair i have decided to bun for a while. i have put myself on a no heat challenge for a year, no direct heat that is, i hope this works, went out and purchased my first bun today and im wearing it now, im so use to wearing my hair down i kinda feel out of place, like is this me, but i want my hair to grow longer

any suggestions on anything i can use to help speed up the growth, im about 3-4 weeks post and i dont have any new growth i think thats kinda strange, i dont know whats going on, any advice is greatly appreciated

thanks ladies

welcome aboard!!! For speedy growth I would suggest- MTG or an alternative, vitamins, exercise and lots of water!

I would also sugguest using dr miracles super braid relief spray mixed with a product called 024. It comes in a little spray bottle usually used for pain relief they sell it at walgreens. This combination really works I got tons of growth while I was in interlocks and individuals with these two products. I also rinsed my hair every day with water.

Way to go! I know you'll be really happy with the results in just a few months. :) Thru daily bunning, you're pretty much retaining everything that grows. Gotta love it!

I didnt believe they hype on bunning and no heat but believe me it has done my hair wonders over the last couple of months. I didnt see new growth during my first month so dont worry. I air dried and wore my hair down for most of the part. However around 5weeks my NG was out of control. I couldnt do anything w/ my hair. So I made myself a sock bun and I wear that everyday to work during the weekday then on the weekend I would wrap my hair and wear it straight for two days w/o heat. You will get used to it believe me. I never thought I would like my hair pulled back all the time but I love it now!!!! Good luck girl your hair will thank u

its been about a month since ive started bunning and i can really tell the difference in my hair, at first i was kinda scared of wearing a bun b/c i just wasnt use to wearing my hair pulled backed but i love it

I agree. You will be happy with the results. I've been doing it for a few months too, and it works!

I dont see any new growth in my hair for a few weeks after a relaxer and the next thing you know I have a growth spurt...its really wierd

I think I am going to start bunning too, I have been rockin these 3/4 wigs for a while and my hair is to the point (i think) where I can make a nice bun.

But sulfur/oil concocotions work good to speed growth for many ladies on the board, you can do a search and lots of stuff come up, there's even some good stuff on the hair recipe board.

bunning and cowashing have saved my hair. Your hair will totally benefit from bunning. It might get boring sometimes but there are a million ways to dress it up.

welcome aboard, i wear buns all the time, and only take my hair down on wash days. i also wear a baggie over my buns to retain ultimate moisture in my hair.

Ive been bunning for a month, I never thought I would wear my hair up EVERYDAY, but now I would be too lazy to wear it down! Now I just want to get some fake hair pieces so I can do the bun/baggy method.:) And since being on here, I have realized how harsh winter weather can be to your hair, I feel like I have to do a bun to prevent more breakage.

Aye, me too. At least during the winter months to protect my hair from the wools coats and stuff. But in the late spring when i can wear halter tops, then I'll probably wear my hair out most of the time since in a halter top my hair will only rub against my back, and not any clothes...

Exactly.:) That's why I'm on the bunning challenge too during the winter because when it's really cold outside the coldness alone make my hair feel like straw no matter how moisturized it is.
