When i do it my hair sheds more than often...does this happen to anyone else.?
i wont be doing this often....i will be takin my hinee to my Dominican stylist

...my hair comes out great when she does it.....

Is the shedding happening when you are combing your hair? I've learned that after airdrying, no more combing the hair until the next wash, just finger-combing. I have almost no shedding when I airdry.

I hate air drying too but it is a necessary evil.

Does ypur hair shed during the drying process or the next day. I know I am extra gentle with my washing and combing so I don't neccessarily detangle well. The shed hair may just be hair that needs to come out.

How do you know your hair is not shedding or being pulled out by your stylist. You cannot see every hair shed when she is rolling it. Some of them are so evil they hide the comb or the ball of hair they tug out. They are definitely not as gentle as we would be.

true....i am sure that hair comes out when the stylist does it , but she is very gentle, that is y i chhose her, the others have a death wish on hair i swear.. it comes out when my hair is wet and i am detangaling and also when its dry, when i get a roller set i ahrdly ever have shedding or breakedge, its not like tons of hair, but i just dont like to see unnessesary hair coming out.....i dunno......

I tooo hate to air dry unless my hair is going back in a ponytail. I love the results I get from a rollerset at the Dominicans which is why I go once a week. On the otherhand, I hate the inconvenience of being dependent on them every week

If I don't put any kind of oil in my hair, it'll snap easily once it's completely dry after I've airdried it.

I'm sorry but I don't air dry my hair. I know that's what you are suppose to do but my hair comes out too puffed & frizzy. I blow-dry my hair with a good heat protectant.

What heat protectant do you use? I want to start back blowdrying for the winter months. My hair doesn't airdry straight in all areas because some of my hair is underprocessed.

Me too.
I am just trying to see if it is going to be beneficial. If you can't comb it when its dry it stays a tanlged mess until next time. My hair did fine with weekly washes and blow drys. I also needed a trim every 8 to 10. I am trying to see if this will help me avoid trimming so often.

My hair likes to be washed, it doesn't like to be combed after its been wet for 2 days staight cause its still not dry.

I used to have a problem with my hair drying frizzy and dry too.
Now,after I have washed and conditioned I apply leave-in,Loreal Smooth Intense Serum(gets rid of my frizzies completely)and jojoba oil(optional since I am already using a super moisturizing leave-in)
I then put it all in a ponytail and add a lil extra leave-in and serum to my ponytail's length.
I hope this helps.

I absolutely love to air dry my hair. Majority of the time my hair is always air dried. I roll it up and sleep in the rollers. The next day, my hair looks so soft and pretty. I use a leave in conditioner, grease my scalp, use EP Mango butter and Barry Flecther hair oil in addition to using setting lotion. My hair is not really thick nor super thin.

I airdry using the ponytail method. I usually do it right when I'm in the shower. I have an ouchless ponytail holder and once I rinse out my deep conditioner I use a wide toothed comb and while I'm under the faucet head I comb the tangles out (the water helps here, and I hardly have any breakage) and put the ponytail in the shower.

After my hair has dried, when I comb through I don't suffer breakage. I'll probably start blowdrying some again this winter because I get nasty head colds going out with a wet head.

Adding your leave-in and oils before airdrying seals the moisture in - no dryness at all!

The option to airdry and look cute has been very liberating for me.

Afer I condition wash, I use the detangling Biolage leave-in tonic to comb through my hair. Then I add serum and airdry in a wet bun. I don't rollerset from one touchup to the next because I dislike the excessive combing and manipulation involved. Sometimes I'll blowdry my hair if I'm in a rush and am going to wear the ringlets down, but I don't comb it as I blowdry. (That'd disturb the curls.) I just blast it with the air to make it dry faster.

I prefer my ringlets down style to the rollerset look because it's easier to achieve and it doesn't fall flat. My hair's really fine, but the density makes it look thick. Flat hair does not flatter the shape of my face.

i think the problem with me was that i could not affectively airdry my hair until it got longer. air drying short hair is not fun at all. but i do think you need to fingure comb and not use anything else.

I've had to get used to airdrying, but now that I have, I love it!

I still comb and brush my hair. On the day that I wash my hair I usually only use my fingers or shower comb to detangle since it's damp and more fragile, but by the next day I don't have any problems combing or brushing. I think successful air-drying has everything to do with what products work best for your hair in order for it to dry smooth and soft. They may be totally different products than what you would use when blow drying (I know mine are).

You don't HAVE to air dry. It's not a crime to use a blow dryer. I know for ME, personally, I was having breakage issues and bad split ends because of the heat. I only blow dried once a week, but I guess my hair is just sensitive to heat and didn't like it. I haven't blow dried my hair since June and I have no desire to go back to it. As matter of fact I left all my heat appliances at home when I left for college (this was a big deal for me, I thought about bringing my flat iron "just in case" but I left it at home

this totally eliminated my frizzies when i air-dry...you need to use this stuff called razac's perfect for perms finishing creame and African Royale hot six oil and a little olive oil....this really helped me out and i have 4a, 3c relaxed hair

I finally mastered the airdried ponytail last Sunday. The trick was to use the RIGHT serum...I had been using Keracare Silken Seal which is great for shine but Loreal Smooth Intense is much thicker and better and smoothing the hair. Then I did what is probably a no-no...I combed w/ a rattailed comb. Believe it or not, I lost no more hairs than when I comb w/ a regular comb. But the hair in the ponytail was smooth and silky, almost as if Id used heat. I put a small roller in the tail part and all was well with my do....

I am glad you like the Loreal Smooth Intense Serum. It is great for achieving a smooth look.It doesnt seem too popular on the board tho

well its not like i wear my hair down, and i must admit it does have alot more fullness to it when i air dry but the frizzies are annoying and i dont wanna apply heat to my hair so going to bed with a wet pony tail is yuck...also i cant roller set to save my life, i dont have the patience...but i too also hate being a slave to the beauticians.....

I use John Frieda's Relax Blow Dry Straightening Creme. I love this stuff. It's really good for smoothing down new growth.

It's take pratice to get the roller set down. I was so clueless last year. Now I am a pro. I saved so much money by learning to roller set. If I could just learn how to cornrow.

Er, if I could air-dry my hair in a bun and have it come out looking the way yours does in those pics you posted, I'd do that ALL the time!!!!

What frizzies are you talking about???!!!

Ok. Air-drying is still no fun but I just got a relaxer. For the first time I didn't NEED a trim. Its probably because the last 6 or 7 weeks I have been air-drying. I will try more of the suggested techniques.

Ditto!

hehehe....well thnx for the comp...but the going to bed with the wet hair sucks, and i gotta smooth those end and keep workin my hair after it is partially dry and and even when it is dry apply more smoothers this is a process of about 2 days....so it tends to be a huge hastle, but i am gonna try to learn how to roller set my own hair again...i am gonna try it again.....back to the hair supply store......

Huh...I never thought that going to bed with wet hair could even bother some people. I don't even notice. Good thing too because otherwise, I totally would NOT be able to airdry because no way I'm taking all that time during the day to have a wet head
