It's a downgrade. Your natural hair looks much better. So pretty and full, why hide it with a wig!

okay i didnt feel like fighting to type a whole thread on my phone so i just posted the pics from there but now im here so this is how it went lol......

I was looking at sweetashoneybabyluv's youtube video last night and i just couldn't stand it any longer...i had to get a LF. My mother and i have been checking them out for a while now so we picked our butts up today and went to a whole bunch of BSS. We both got wigs...we love em. I'm planning on wearing LFs as a protective style but im not sure how effective this will be so im gonna do some research on the board as soon as im dont posting this!!
At first i wasnt feeling my wig because i felt it didnt look as natural as the one's i have seen on other people but then i realized i was being a wussy and not wanting to cut off a lot of lace but i sucked it up and cut more lace off and now it looks a million times better. I "flat twisted" my hair underneath...idk how to flat twist lol
I plan on wearing my LFs whenever im out the only time it wont be on my head is when im at home with a satin scarf on my own hair.I'll still be following my regular "regimen"
-wash every two weeks
-deep condition overnight every two weeks
-moisturize 2x daily
What do you ladies think of how the wig looks and my plan to protective style??

Apparently, you do take good care of your hair because it definitely looks healthy and shiny in your signature. I understanding the need for protective styling though. :yep:

Black hair media has a WHOLE lot of info on LF. Those ladies over there have it down to a science. Have you checked them out?

im tryin!! but these ugly split ends...and im really tryna get some major growth:wallbash::wallbash:

okk maybe its because i feel tired and lazy right now but it seems like blackhairmedia.com is a little hard to navigate

Hey girly, I too like it down; but, I think it's too far back in your pics. Or, maybe the hairline is a bit too thick? I dont know much on lfs, so I can be saying the wrong things. But, something about the hairline looks a bit off. Could just be the pics too. If you have very light babyhurs, then that can be it too.

lol @hurs*

It looks nice but I think you should put out a little more or your own hair around the edges or pull it down just a tad bit. I just purchased my first one about 2 weeks ago. I love it. I cant wait until i have some extra money to get another one. mines is short. i want a long one! how much did u pay for yours? I was terribly overcharged for mines..:( is yours human or synthetic?

i know it looks weird in these pics but i had already taken it off lol imma lazy lil girl. i paid 50 bucks...its synthetic hair...its futura fiber and supposedly that means i can apply heat to it

Honestly, the hairline looks somewhat odd (especially the first three photos), a bit barbiesque. There's forehead and then bam, a full head of hair.
I don't have any advice because I don't really do fake hair but I remember there was a thread about invisible parts and a youtube link, and I believe it was Ediese who mentioned something about thinning the front to make it look a bit more natural. Jmo.
eta Your real hair looks great though :yep:

A few youtubers have lacefront tips to make them look more realistic:

You may need to leave out a bit of your own hairline, assuming that is an option, to make it look more realistic. Otherwise you get the fresh edge up hairline look. If you cannot leave out your own hairline (straight wig but natural hair) then you can get wear bangs.

I have not been all that successful with straight lace front wigs or straight half wigs since becoming 100% natural. Leaving out my own hairline is an option (flat iron) but it does frizz in humid conditions.

Good luck!

oh, and about your split ends (on your own hair), how often do you trim? or do you moisturize and seal? do you wear your hair up?

well, if you trim/dust often enough for your hair, perhaps try wearing it up (not in a wash and go)? I used to get splits too before I started moisturizing, sealing, and wearing buns. I know you dont like buns so maybe a curly pin up?

ETA, sorry to go off topic, but I just wouldnt want you to ps and etc, but not retain length due to splits.

Morning ladies and happy Easter...

I love lace fronts :look: (I know I know)

I get the same thing u get all the time..."girl all that hair u got why u wearing a wig" and I pretty much have the same answer as you...

Anywho the trick with LFs is to brush a little of ur babyhairs out and possible part the lf.

If u plan on wearing LFs for a while, please purchase another wig...sticking to just one LF is not a good idea...esp with synthetic hair...:nono: - also get some products to help extend the life of the wig, and wash it when it needs to be washed...

IMPORTANT - even though it says u can put heat on it I would not recommend using like a chi, fhi, etc...

DO A STRAND TEST - PULL A STRAND OF THE HAIR OUT OF THE WIG AND RUN UR FLAT IRON DOWN THE HAIR TO SEE IF IT MELTS...ALSO IF UR CURLING IT DO NOT LEAVE THE CURLER ON THE HAIR LONG...ITS BEST TO JUST USE REG OLD ROLLERS...

HTH

The hairline looks unnatural. I like your hair better. May be if it didn't show the hairline it would look more natural. If it had bangs or a swipe bang. IDK

It doesn't look good IMO from those pics but thats what you asked.
Generally I don't care what people do for protected styles, if you like it I can try to love it. This lacefront (maybe to do with it being synthetic/the hairline) is a no for me. Then again the only ones I think look good on BW are the human, textured ones like Teyana Tailors or Kelly Rowland curly style.
