I Find Long Strands of My Hair Around The House

It's not breakage and I'm not starting this thread to ask for treatment advice. I feel that these are just naturally shed hairs. This has been going on for years--as long as I've had long hair. I find hairs in the bathroom of course, but also on the kitchen floor usually in corners (funny how it collects in corners). I usually don't find them in carpeted areas though they are probably there as well--just not as noticeable. I use a dust buster for quick clean up, but this whole thing is beginning to be an annoyance.

I'm getting ready to move into a new home and I don't want to hairy-up my new house. :cry3:

I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this. If you have more than 2 or 3 inches of hair, I bet you have too! Anyone have any clever ideas for lessening this or a better clean up remedy than the one I already have. (dust buster)

I really don't have a remedy for it, but I also can find hair all over the house (especially at my desk!) I just clean it up as I see it, but its a hard job When my hair gets longer I anticipate it being even harder (guess you can't have the joy without the pain eh?)

I keep finding so many shed hairs around my house, too. It's annoying! It gets so annoying that sometimes, when I'm eating at my house alone, I wear my sleep bonnet, lol.

This thread is such a god send. Thanks Supergirl!! Iam having this same problem. At first I thought I was doing something wrong or that my hair was just falling out!! I only do my hair in my bathroom but i notice that i always end up picking up a few strands of hair all over the house--oh i use the swifer wet jet and while doing my hair i stand on a dirty towel to catch any hair, makes clean up alot easier. My mother-in-law is sending me some garlic shampoo(cant find any in hawaii), she says that it helped minimize the shedding--it wont end it completely because hair just normally sheds. Maybe you can try some garlic shampoo. I know its not too expensive.

Now that I think about it-when i was home-NY-my stylist would use Sebastian's Penetraitt in my hair 2 weeks after my relaxer. My hair wasnt shedding excessively and it felt alot stronger. Im going shopping for some tomorrow--but being that im here on this non-product having island, I'll most likely have to call my sister so she can send me some. IMO, its a good protein treatment that works very well.

This hasnt really been a problem for me (yet, lol), but that's probably because Im still in the phase where I wear mostly protective styles. My hair pretty much stays in a bun 24/7, and the rare occasions that i do wear it down usually are when Im out of the house. I'll probably experience this when I start wearing it down more regularly.....

I don't find long strands of hair around my house. It's probably because I rarely wear my hair down (maybe once or twice right after getting a relaxer touch-up). I remember when I was living in my other house, whenever I wanted to blow dry my hair, I would go outside and blow dry my hair on the deck. I didn't want any strands of hair all up in my bathroom. Since moving into my new home, I haven't even pulled out the blow dryer.

I was just about to post a new long thread venting about my shedding hair. Everytime I think I've got it under control, it turns out to be a temporary fix. Its driving me nuts!! I just don't know what to do anymore. Its wayyy too much hair to continue losing for so many weeks. My hair has been shedding since June. It stoppe temporarily from the Emergencee treatment but I don't know how often I should be using it since its a fairly strong protein. I know this thread isn't a hair shedding advice thread...its more clean up result oriented so I'm sorry but....I kept sharing my little triumphs thinking I beat the hair shedding beast and it keeps returning after a few days. I'm getting very down about it.

P.S. My hair is everywhere too. Even spotted a long ace strand on my cream colored puppy.:lachen::ohwell: I don't know whether to laugh or lose it and SCREAM!!

When i find longer pieces of hair that can't possibly be mine i blame then on my sister who constantly wear weaves. until she went out of town for a week and i realized most of them were mine. i was happy my hair was getting longer but i was sad that i lost the argument. dang! as for cleaning, i don't know. we have whitetile floors and it's an absolute nightmare. it has to be swept and mopped at least every 2 days. if i didn't love my hair so much, i'd cut it!!

Hehehe. It's amazing how long some of the strands that I find are. I'm like "Wow! That came from me?". I can totally relate to your astonishment.

:lachen: :lachen: Girl you meant business. I would just close the bathoroom door and then clean/wipe afterwards.

Same problem here! My first thought is a bug is flying around me but I'll notice a stray hair on my arm, and it's not from putting my hands in my hair. I've heard some ladies using garlic shampoo - has this worked for anyone? If so, how long before you noticed reduced shedding?

Yes, me too!!! Its crazy, thank God Im not the only one. When I fold my laundry, I see socks with my hair caught in it, and Im like what the hell? Its even in towels that come out of the laundry!! Oh geez...

And you know it girl. Hmph. I thought I was going to have to call in the Army. Thank goodness I don't use a blow dryer very often. The last time I used a blow dryer at home was at the end of March.

Allandra I bet you have "THE" cleanest house! I love it.

My grandmother is like that, girl if you get a cup of water she is right behind you to wash it dry it and put it back in the cabinet.

interesting post.

i only "shed" when combing, but its not alot of hair.

2 things that I did to combat shedding:
1. moisturized more often
2. began using a jumbo rake comb (like this one):
