ok well chemical burns and friction will cause bald spots. so at least you know what it's from.

i will gently make a suggestion.

try the simple things first.
-instead of supplements, eat healthy. or healthier. add 2-3 fruits or veggies to your daily diet. or a salad.
-use a gentle shampoo sulfate free
-deep condition once a week with a protein, then a moisturizing condish. or mix the two. let it sit (with plastic cap and heat if you can) for 20-30 min
-moisturize your hair with a moisturizing lotion that doesn't contain mineral oil or petroleum, seal that moisture in with a light oil (do this daily)
-tie your hair up at night with a satin scarf, bonnet

repeat this for a month.

take notes in a journal. observe your hair. take pictures. make changes as you see individual components of your regimen need change.

see how your hair is at that point before you add things like growth aids, etc. find the basics that work for your hair.

here's a note about garlic, i just smash a clove and add it to my food twice a day. (that may be a cheaper, easier way to see how you tolerate garlic)

i sincerely hope that helps:)

Thank you for your advice , I had been working at it except the good eating part and using moisture after protein, whoops. Also I saw that my moisturizer has petrolatum and mineral oil and dimethicone in it :perplexed, it's Optimum Dry Hair Healer. I'm gonna do away with that, I have some Organics mositurizers that look like they have good ingredients. And the garlic idea is smart. Believe me, I am stepping back to simplicity from now on. No more growth aids for me :look:.

Honey, you should drop your computer and run to your campus' student clinic. I know they can give you a referral and unless you waived your health coverage, you have some.

You are running the risk of being completely bald by not getting immediate medical attention for your problem. Megatek never was your problem.

As you sit on this problem, your bald patches will just worsen. Please, for your own sake, get a dermatologist's help now.

I pretty much got my initial ones from known causes; burns, friction, I'll see how it goes as I've stopped megatek. If not, I'll go to the derm. I do have school health coverage, thanks.

I'm not sure if the other posts mentioned this, but you're only supposed to put the Megatek on your scalp not your hair. You must have protein overload, especially if you're co-washing daily with it.

I would stop using it immediately. Maybe even see a dermatologist. You can stop by the pharmacy and grab garlic pills and that might stop the shedding. I'm sorry this happened to you.

I was cowashing with VO5 then using it on my scalp afterwards, a bit heavy handed. I stopped using it a week ago or so. So I'm gonna watch what happens for a couple more weeks.

I recently started MT and the instructions for humans is to use 3x a week on scalp and rinse out.

One of the posts gave advice to basically keep it simple, that's a good idea:yep:! If you don't have insurance you may be able to atleast get a consultation from a dermatologis, check around!

OK that's the right way

I used Megatek back in 2008 and was on the challenge. There were a few women that had shedding. Don't know if you've searched those threads, but most of them posted on the 1st page how to combat the shedding. Good luck and I hope the shedding stops soon.

I know right, I used to think all products had petroleum in them and therefore it must be a good ingredient. It's all about slapping a nice sounding name on the label while selling filler ingredients to us :ohwell:. It seems things are looking up already..off to take pics!

I just wanted to say that there is some great advise here. I have recently begun to notice a few thin areas and bald spots in the front of my head :nono:
Before I started to cry, I came to this board and I think there may be some solutions to my issues here.

While I can't say if my hair is reacting to my products or hair styles, I can say that I wore my hair ALOT pulled back into a ponytail with a phoney pony....at least all winter. But one other thing that I did want to metion, was about water....I had been drinking distilled water to help chelate and detoxify my body. I remember reading that distilled water shouldn't be consumed for more than 30 days because in addition to detoxifying it will also deplete your body of vitamins and minerals that you actually need. So perhaps that is why I am experiencing some hair loss too???? Hmmm....
