I didnt know....but I am a believer!!!!

Wow @Jewell
We have a lot of the same stuff: sulfur, wigs, ceramides, PSing, increasing ayurveda/natural products and going natural.

I'd like to add fingerdetangling/low to no combing/brushing and banding. Both help to keep away split ends and knots for me.

That's great, yes we do! I do low to no combing, and often after a CW I just simply distribute conditioner with my fingers, while undoing areas that want to knot and mat with my fingers. This removes shed hair without tugging and pulling on my scalp and hair.

I do use a wide-tooth comb about once per week to remove shed hair from the root (because the comb does work better than my fingers)...but I only comb my hair when it is wet with conditioner.

If it's not time for a wash and I need to re-style, I spray my hair down with a water/conditioner/glycerin mix, and work it that way. This works 2 ways to detangle and "melt" down my kinks/curls (which shrink up and become stiff/hard after a few days of sitting in a bun), as well as to condition and moisturize.

I have a question. How much conditioner are you ladies using with applying the conditioner like a relaxer? I've been weaving as a protective style but I would like to try this after my next take down.

I can't say on the how much because I have a large pj stash so I am going overboard.

Yea, can we get more tips on how to apply product like a relaxer or color? Is there a thread on this already?

I go through a lot of conditioner with my hair (shoulder length). I would guess-timate at least 4 to 5 oz or more. Thing is, I mix oils in it as well. It loosens the consistency and stretches it out. I only deep condition on dry hair with conditioners I'm trying to use up and be rid of, or I'll use the cheaper priced ones. My favorite favorite favorite is the Tressemme Naturals moisturizing. You get a lot of it for a good price and there are no sulfates or silicones in it.

Hmmm... things that made me a believer...

Not combing my hair and just finger combing until the end of the week on wash day. I really did notice less shed hair and breakage!

Dr. Miracle's Hot Spot. I used it for about a week on edges that were nearly bald and thought it wasn't doing a thing so I put away for about six months. Went back and tried it one day and stuck with it for about 2-3 weeks and started seeing dramatic results! My edges have completely filled in now and you would never know they were nearly bald.

Roller setting my natural 4b/c hair. I thought there is no way my hair will get straight from that! I tried it and it does work on my tightly coiled hair.

Using oils on my hair after a fresh wash to either seal in a moisturizer or when I was relaxed to soften my new growth. I think this is one of the key reasons why my natural hair is so soft and I rarely have a problem with dryness.

Hot oil treatments! Those really do work! I used to have itchy scalp and for the longest I didn't believe in them (silly I know), but that helped a lot.

That's all I can think of for now. I'll have to try that conditioner application like a relaxer method as my hair grows back out. :yep:
