OMG, I can do this! I've been so intimidated about styling my own natural hair and have given so much money to stylists, etc. I am so happy that I just jumped right in and decided to do it myself. It's so easy as long as I have the right styling products!

My curls/twists came out beautiful. I just worked with my 4a tight curls. The back of my head didn't turn out great, but that will improve with practice.
I am just do happy that I did so well with my fisrt try. I wish I had the confidence and the right information and products to do this earlier. Thanks to the wonderfully informed sisters on this board I can do it!!
Hugs to you all!!!!

congratulations! They will get better with time and practice.

Just be careful when its time to wash and detangle. Many people doing twists and braid outs for the first time get discouraged after they wash it out and detangle for the first time because their hair gets so tangled and they see lots of hair in the comb. I lost so much hair the first time i did it i swore never to wear that style again

but now i wear it all the time and i barely lose any hair.

Im gonna give you and all new naturals some advice to avoid any hair drama

. when you decide to rewash and detangle your twist out make sure to dampen hair a bit and add some conditioner (preferably cheap) alone or mixed with olive oil let sit for 1/2 hr or longer then detangle with wide tooth comb (i prefer to use my fingers) then wash hair sectioned in 2-4 ponytails. this method prevents your hair from knotting and tangling excessively.

Dont ever try to detangle a twist out dry trust me

Congrats Ladymadonna!! I did my first twist out yesterday and I love it

I slept in my satin bonnet and finger combed my hair this morning. It still looks great

No problems whatsoever with tangles; I use the Dark & Lovely spray cream rinse for kids -- forgot the name. Or just regular Johnson's No More Tears.

That's great, ladymadonna! I felt the same way when I first did a braid out. Keep at it and you'll get better!
