I did it! I did it! I really really did it!!!

Wow! You really did do it, your hair is beautiful and it grew so fast! You've been on my list of hair inspirations! It's great to see how well no heat has worked for your hair. I too have stayed away from all heat since 7/03 and I really feel there is something very good and healthy about this method, although I know other ladies have successfully grown their hair long with heat.

Congrats on a whole year of healthy hair care! I just  your hair Carlie. You have done an awesome job taking care of your hair. It has really came a long way. Are you going to try to grow it to waist length?

Wow your hair is beautiful. I'm amazed at the growth you've received in such a short period of time. I had been thinking about the vitamin, the greatest vitamin in the world... do you think this contributed to your growth or were you getting this kind of growth with out the vitamins? Do you think the vitamins or the protective styling helped you the most? TIA..and thanks for sharing...very inspirational.

 Girl, give me some of that fast growth. I was just looking at your regimen and vitamin supplements the other day. They are really WORKING! Please don't stop what you are doing because your hair looks great!

I'm loving your hair! I'm not done browsing your journal yet, but the info I've read so far is really great. Gorgeous hair!

Carlie, you are my new hair idol! Ohmigod, I am so inspired. :yep: Your hair made such progress in this past year. You really are a testament to how a good regimen can result in beautiful, shiny hair. Way to go!

ETA: Did you trim your hair at all during the past year? What kind of relaxer do you use?

Thanks Lorraine! I've been inspired by your hair photos as well. :yep: I trimmed my hair once in December. In my journal, I have an entry called "The TRIM!!!"; that's the only time I trimmed since the beginning of my hair journey. :yep:

Congratulations and thanks so much for sharing with all of us. All I can say is, "WOW!" I am humbled. I also read in your journal that you had just found a new stylist that uses all of the affirm products correctly. Well, oh my goodness, who knows what the next year will have in store for you now that you've got the bomb stylist! Keep up the beautiful work girl. I feel so inspired.
Thanks hopeful! I am humbled by all of the love I've received thus far! You all are wonderful people. :yep:

Even though my hair came out pretty good, I'm still "scared to death" of stylists! :look: I hope to eventually have my hair done at home. :yep:

OK tell the truth....its a wig/weave right.....You ain't got to lie Carlie! :-)

I'm just looking through your journal your March 4 pic is off the HOOK.

****
Whats with this Indian hair oil....How long have you used it....you like it more than the traditional oils?

Last Q, what was the longest your hair was before this?

:lachen: Yeah, it's both .....half wig, half weave...:lol:

Indian hair oil? I've been using Amla Oil and recently Vatika Oil. Is that what you're talking about?

The longest I remember my hair ever being was almost BSL....right before I had to have it cut to shoulder length due to damage from heat and probably stress as well. :yep:

wow your hair grew fast....

has stretching the relaxers helped you retain more growth?

Ummm....I really don't know if stretching relaxers has helped me to retain more growth. :scratchch I feel that retaining length is all about keeping your ends healthy so I think the protective styling and SCurl has helped me the most with that. :yep:

Carlie, your hair is very beautiful! I love to see hair that is all one length - that is one of my goals. Very nice.

Thank you!!! :o However, my hair isn't all one length. :nono: It's actually very much layered. :yep: When I trimmed it in December, I made it even more layered in the front/sides. The back of my hair is pretty much one length but I have the sides layered. I think if my hair was all one length, it would appear a lot more fuller/thicker and would probably look a lot longer. But, yeah, I'm definitely a layered girl! :D

Thanks Poohbear! Originally, my goal for this year was waist length and my final goal was tailbone length but I've recently changed my overall hair goals. See the Hair Goals/Measurements entry in my journal. :yep:

Carlie,
Congratulations, your hair is gorgeous. Thanks also for the review of Lavar Hair Designs. I am sorry that that happened to you.

A few questions
1) What is the difference between positive link and Affirm 5-in-1? I have fine, fragile hair type 4B hair. Should I ask for the positive link or should I ask for the 5-in-1. I know that this should be used before neutralizing. After neutralizing has been done, should another conditioner be used? My hair has been thinning and I believe that it was because the stylist I used to go to used Affirm 5-in-1 AFTER shampooing the relaxer. I am also not sure that she used a neutralizing shampoo on my hair. It was a Dominican Salon. The stylist I go to now did not use the Affirm 5-in-1 at all. I would love your tips about this, because its bad enough that I put a chemical in my hair -- I want it applied correctly!

2) Could you give airdrying tips? Whenever I airdry my hair, whether it be in a bun, ponytail, etc, my hair dries crunchy. My hair HATES s-curl but it does well with Bumble and Bumble Leave-in, UBH moisturizer and oils, mixed in. I think that the only way my hair would be able to dry moisturized would be with cornrows or with a rollerset. Doing ponytail rollersets doesnt always help. However, I worry that the cornrows and rollersets would be too much manipulation, because I wash my hair every other day or at least every three days because I work out. What advice do you have for me?

3) Finally, I think that I read in your journal that you are trying to workout a lot more. Are you still going to keep washing your hair once a week or do you think that you will increase the frequency? Do you have tips for those of us who would like to work out but are also trying to grow our hair?

4) When you say no heat, does this mean that you don't use heat to condition your hair (i.e. sit under the dryer/heating cap with conditione?) or does this mean that you airdry?

Thanks for sharing your journal and thanks in advance for your response to my question. You are one of my hair inspirations!

Ummm....I really can't pinpoint any particular vitamin. I've always been taking something and I change up pretty often. Also, I just don't focus on hair health but body health. I feel a healthy body will lead to healthy hair growth. The protective styling has definitely been the key to my retaining growth/keeping my ends healthy/not having to trim often. :yep:

You can find excellent information about this exact topic in this thread: Affirm Thins Hair?

If you don't mind, I will answer the rest of your questions a little later. I need to take a small break.

Talk to you soon and thanks for the compliment!

Thanks, Carlie. I read that topic and still had a few questions, specifically about which one I should use for my hair.
