A Six month Stretch! I am going to stretch my next relaxer for six months beginning in January. I realize the starting dates will be different, but anyone wanna join me?

Post a starting pic, and each month take a pic of the new growth. Its kind of a support system challenge.

Any takers?

I will cheer and often you all of the support I can, but making it to the10 -12 weeks is a challenge for me.

How do you stretch that long without breakage?

ill join you but my starting date will have to be from 2/15-8/15. Are we doing a reveal? Also somebody is going to have to give some serious info on keeping that demarcation line moisturized!!

Um, I would...but bald-headed is not a good look for me :nono:

Ideally, if you're not already a super-stretcher, you want increase your stretch by a week each time to get the hang of it, JMO.

*I just sprayed a little bit of spittle on my monitor...*

I'm with you. I am going to relax on Sunday for the New Year. I'll see about stretching through June. I'll need alot of support. If I dont master rollersetting there is a good chance I'll through in the towel early.

I agree, first start with 10 weeks and then 11 weeks and then so on. I have been trying to work my way up to 12 weeks for a year and still have not made it yet but as Artemis said, JMO:yep:

Count me in. My last relaxer was on December 19th. I am willing to give ti a try. I just got layers cut in my hair and I hope I can hang.

You got my support! Unfortunately, I'll have to end my stretch at 10-12 weeks (too much breakage). I have a hard time maintaining after this mark, but my hats off to you that can stretch this long! Remember to moisturize the new growth and ends!!!!

I'll join!!! Even though I've opted into several challenges since joining LHCF, I've been so very disappointed with my results for each and every one that I ended up having to dropping out of them all .

I'm currently on a 9 month stretch which is going great so far. In 2007 I relaxed 2 times and I plan on relaxing 3 times next year (Jan/June/Dec).

Good luck to everyone!

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you guys, but I've been house sitting and they have no computer for me to use.

I stop the breakage by doing protein treatments with every wash and washing in braids. If you detangle your hair before the braids, if doesn't get as tangled. The relaxer stretcher's support thread goes into these things in detail.

Welcome! Yea, I was thinking a reveal at the end of the stretch. I'll do some more research (people with fotki info, threads on the subject, etc) and get make to you about moisture. I could tell you what I do, but I want to get other people's views as well.

Welcome! I'm with you on the rollersetting tip, but I think that I will just wear braids at the three month mark, which is when my new growth usually begins to get out of control!

I hear you and Artemis! Thanks for the advice, everyone should know the risks. I am already a three month strecher, so I know somewhat of what I'm getting into. Also, anyone can bow out gracefully, everyone should listen to their hair not me, lol!

Ditto for me. Only way that would work is if I was transitioning, and I would still need a major cut at that point. Too much of a difference in thickness and required care. 9 weeks is the max as long as I am still relaxing

All I can say is WOW!

Nope, not for moi..sticking to my 8 weeks. The pain and damage is just too much for my thick, no combing unless under the shower/heavily conditioned roots.

I'm in. When I'm away at school, I don't perm my hair anyway (til I get back home for breaks, winter/summer). It's hard to do, lol. I got a relaxer Dec. 8th, so I will try not to get another one till May or June.

I have stretched to four months before only. I felt four months was really pushing it. Let's see this month will be three months. I would love to try for 6 months just scared.

My initial personal goal was to go for 4 months being that my birthday is in April but what the heck. What's another 2 months (I say that now). I'm in.

Yes, I will I am already 2 weeks post relaxer and have some NG. I am relaxing my hair 4x a year March 08, June 08,Sept. 08, and Dec.08
I am APL 1-08
I want to be BSL by 6-08 :yep:
If when I go for my 3 month stretchs I just pray my hair dresser will not do a trim.:drunk:

Hey Ladies!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't forgotten this challenge, just wanted to wait for the two month mark.

My hair is not out of control yet, but my hair is definitely growing this winter. It is remaining moisturized, and so far no breakage, but I am not at my normal stretching point yet. I usually go for three months, so we'll see how I feel after next month, lol!

So, ladies, how's it going ? Who's still with me?

Whew, in this case, I'm in. I am presently 11 weeks post and is trying for 7 months so I will need all the help I can get. I have a sew in now so I can't show a starting point pic until I take this down. I also just joined a 3 month stretch challenge from March 1st - June 1st. So we'll see. My longest stretch ever has been around 16 or 17 weeks. I'll try to keep 6 weeks sew-ins and wigs to make my stretching easy.
