Priss Pot

Makeup + Bench Pressing
Ladies, as you all know, I've been transitioning going on almost 8 months on April 11th. Today, I washed and deep conditioned my hair, and I got really curious to see how my natural hair looked without the relaxed ends. I cut the nape of my hair, and WOW, I loved it. So I thought "hmm, it wouldn't hurt to snip a little more." So I snipped another section, and before I had the chance to actually "think" about it, half of my head is natural :ohwell:. I've gone a bit too far with my curiosity, and now I'm sure I don't have enough relaxed ends to fit into a bun anymore. I dunno what to do now. I might as well go on and BC. I've been trying to see how my hair looks with decorative headbands, and it does look decent, but it's such a shock. I have a big head, and it's gonna look funny with a short coily do'. Luckily my boyfriend is very supportive; he told me to just go on and do it. He's so right. What have I done? Oh, what have I done?

ETA: Well, everyone, as of April 1st, 2007 8:00pm, I did the BC. Man, I gotta get used to this new look.

TSU- well it's nice that you have that support. I think you might as well do the BC since you can't bun it. You will be able to show your natural off just in time for the summer! I'm excited for you. ;) Do yo thang!

Welcome to the natural side!
I think you did the right thing.
Keep playing with your new look, go to the dollar store and get all the clips, head bands, scarves, decorative pins, hair combs you can afford and start to experiment. Your goanna have fun, just wait and see. :D

Big Congrats on going Natural! I know this really means a lot to you. Nothing better than that self satisfaction. I am glad you have a good support system! I can't wait to see it.

LOL, it's about time that a Sephora came our way. I just looked it up and saw that they put it at that new mall in Collierville. It's a bit of a ways out, but I'll surely get there while I'm home!

Congratulations Soror! I been thinking about going natural, how long were you stretching/transitioning?

Thanks, Soror! I had been transitioning since August 2006. It would have been a total of 8 months come April 11th.

TSU, that's how I ended up BCing. I hadn't even declared that I was transitioning. I just didn't have money to get my hair relaxed and stretched it out as far as I could. I was like hmmm let me see how it would look if I snip a few pieces off in the back. Before I knew it all my hair was on the floor. It's great that your bf supports you though. If you don't want to chop the rest can you just slick it back into a phony bun?

ETA: I just saw your later post about BCing. Congrats hun! How do you feel?

Yes, about darn time. I got tired of having to stop in Dallas to go. This might be a bad thing for me. I will prob. be there every darn weekend.
(If not else but to check out all the new stuff!)

TSU, that is exactly what happened to me!! Only difference is, I was not transitioning as I had no intention of going natural. I snipped snipped my hair to a natural TWA with less than .5" of hair!! I thought I would have had a major breakdown but I shocked myself because I felt relieved and happy - I don't know why but that's how I felt. It was so easy to wash and go - perfect!! and one month later, I can actually plait my hair - it has grown so fast! I got more than .5" growth in one month and that has never ever happened all the years I was relaxed. I also would never have intentionally cut my hair to a TWA because I thought my big head would not look cute, but I was pleasantly surprised at how cute and younger looking I am.

Your hair will grow so fast and I am sure you will look cute with a TWA; take the plunge, and..., good luck!

Right about now, I'm still in shock. It looks okay I guess, but it'll take some getting used to. Headbands are gonna be my new best friend now.

You read my mind :sekret: Awww TSU it'll take some getting used to but it'll be alright. I'm sure you look great!

There's this one part on the top left side of my head that has no coil/curl pattern at all. I don't know if it's heat damage since it's only in one spot of my head. This piece has absolutely NO curl pattern; it's like a big wave. I hate it because while everything else coils up, this piece just sticks out.

It might be. :ohwell: I'd say to pay extra attention to that part when you're moisturizing and dcing. It might curl back up. In the mean time you might just have to twist that piece at night and untwist it in the morning so it blends better with the rest of your curls.

Congrats on the big chop! I remember when I did mine, it took a minute or two (or three or four) to get used to my hair being so short. And I was impatient for it to grow. But you will see that if you treat it gently, it will start to grow and surpass the length it was before. Take lots of pics along the way. It's fun to go back and look at them and see your progress. Congrats again. You'll learn to work with it as you go along. Just remember it won't be this length forever. :) I'll bet it looks cute!

you just gotta get used to your new style. i'm sure its beautiful. congrats.

Wow, congratulations!!! You are gonna love the ease of wash n go. It will grow back fast.

Congratulations on the BC! I think you will get use to it after a while. Hope you enjoy the ease of the wash n go this spring/summer. It will grow back fast I'm sure.

COngrats... when i was natural that is what happened to me... I took off a chunk, and then the rest of it came off soon after...
