I bow down to the power of the avacado.

So, today I finally did it. I went to Walmart and bought an avacado to put on my head. I have been transitioning since last Feb. and while it has gotten soooo much easier, there is a problem with balance. What my relaxed hair responds gloriously to certain things while my natural hair doesn't and vice versa.

Well, I sliced the avacado up and then pureed it in the blender with a little bit of water and added a shot of coconut oil. Frankly I wasn't expecting too much but meh...whatever. I sectioned the hair and used a coloring brush and my fingers to apply.

I did all this on dry hair then put on a plastic cap and skull cap. (its better than a towel :yep:)

Watched tv and messed around on the internet about an hour or so then took off the cap.

:spinning: I couldn't believe it! The natural hair was in the nicest corkscrew curls and both textures were well moisturized!! I washed it out and am now conditioning with Motions. So....avacado is now a staple. My whole head felt great during the wash. I couldn't believe it. Maybe my texture war is over!

The only thing I would do different is to be sure I puree enough because I'm still finding chunks in my head.

Just thought I would share!

My DD does the same as you except she also adds some coconut milk and some conditioner for slip. Her hair always looks so shiny after she does this.

I love avocado oil and add it to my deep conditioners. I also love avocado butter when I do a wash and go.

I'm sorry girl. But if I see an avocado... I'm going to eat it. That's like putting Domino's pizza in your hair.

:yep: Avocado (buy extra to eat lol) mixed with coconut milk and/or honey, evoo or evco is an awesome prepoo. It's been a summer staple for years now.

No lie, this post is making me crave an avocado LOL I usually buy 2. One for my hair and one for my belly. My DD does this every 2 weeks and her hair comes out beautiful. I think you should give it a try.

Avocados make me gag so I just might try this. I won't have to worry about eating my hair stash!

I wish I could say I will but I don't have enough will power. The only way to stop me eating avocado is to remove them from my surroundings. I have a problem, i know.

Avacados are yucky to me...I guess that's why I had no problem putting it on my head. Well in any case, if there is some type of alien apocalypse I know that I can grab some avacados to eat and to keep my hair. (Yes, I do sometimes think about what I would do with my hair if stranded on an island or in a zombie apocalypse without hair products):lol:

Avocados on toasted bagels with cream cheese is the BOMB!!

I use the Burts Bee's Avocado pre-poo and it's sooooooooooooo wonderful.

I know that's right. Anyone NOT feeling avocado needs to try my guacamole! LOL
My old hairdresser has a prepoo she does with avocado and I've been meaning to try it myself. But it seems like such a waste!!! I need to buy extra.
