I bc'd 2 days ago and need some help (pics)

OMG. I think you are my hair twin! My hair is mostly 3b or 3c but my crown is this wavy 2c. When that part dries it just poofs and looks like crap. I'm not 100% natural yet (just a few inches left). I'm hoping once I get rid of the rest of the relaxed stuff it will start to behave better.

i don't really have a solution for you yet but I'll keep you posted if I find something that works! Good luck!!

Sorry I don't really have a suggestion but I wanted to come in and say CONGRATS on your Big Chop! :) and your hair is very beautiful!

Hello KIH,
I too bc'd two days ago! I only transitioned 3 months, and went from CBL to TWA. I can't believe I am sporting a cut this short, but I am rocking it! I am 90% natural and 10% transitioning (I left some length on my crown). Anyway, as I have read on several post, being natural is all about Trial and Error.

Since my bc I have had to wash my hair every day! Thanks to Dr. Bronner's soap I fret not! But, on day 3 I am finding that Lustrasilk~ Shea Butter PLUS is working like a charm for me! I have EVERYTHING under the sun that I have been trying, but it is this product that is getting my hair to curl. IT WILL BECOME 1 OF MY STAPLES!

I wash or co-wash (haven't had a chance to do the CW yet); and then I put some Suave Humectant conditioner in as a leave-in (working great!) I then spray with my distalled water\pepermint\rosemary\coconut oil mixture; afterwards I use a dime size of Lustrasilk, seal with Olive Oil and go!

Now, I know some say "that is alot of oil", but my job had MAJOR STRONG AIR CONDITIONERS and a vent is right over my head! It dries my hair in 10 mins or less (seems like)

P.S. I also bought a travel size kit, and keep my water mix and Lustrasilk in my purse! This is just in case my hair dries out. It's the summer, ya'kno...lol

Try the Lustrasilk, it might make all your hair curls since you appear to have such a beautiful curl pattern, and if not...it is only $2.99

I do hope this helps in some form.

Congrats, your hair looks great. All I can tell you, is to just deal with it sweetie. It's hard for your hair to be uniform with so many different textures. I wish I had something more insightful to share, LOL!

I feel u i have a 3cish hair texture everywhere except front and back, back is like 3a or b and front:wallbash: is like wavy straigtht but also has a coarser texture. It makes me up set so what i do is finger coil it and it helps define the frizzy whateva on top. also u will notice the more u wear ur hair curly the easier the curls will come .....it's like training ur hair. Hope this helps Good luck and Good GROWING !!

I BC'd two days ago too! I got sick of the matting so I just got rid of it . I hope someone can help you with your issue.... Have you tried KCCC yet?.... I hear it works wonders

Cute!

I have 2 very different textures - most of my hair is a 4a but the very front is like a 2 or a 3, it either just waves up or makes a very loose coil. I've been using a lot of protein and scrunching that section to help it blend in with the rest of my coils.

In order to have a more uniform look you will have to "set" your hair some kind of way. I'm 4a/b a little 3c and the front of my hair is straight as a stick. I do alot of twistouts.

Yeah!! A hair twin!! I hope we find a solution to our poofiness. So let's grow together. :)

ok Im gonna try that

I bc'd two days ago, even though I was supposed to transition long term. I got frustrated one day trying to detangle :wallbash:and cut it off!:drunk:

Now that I've bc'd I have all these different hair types on my lil ole head. The front and sides looks 3c, the back is 3a or 2c (almost to straight but I'm able to get it to curl with curl activator gel.) Then the crown I think is a 4a/3c mix. I have been just cowashing my hair and using a curl activator gel and conditioner. All around my head is nice defined curls. While a big patch in the middle of my head is just a poof.:wallbash:

Is there anyone else with this problem?
What can I do to make my hair look more uniform? (without combing it out into an afro)
Also I want to color my hair, what is a good do it yourself box dye?

I'm having pc problems so I am just uploading pics I took from my camera phone which aren’t that great.

All in all I'm happy with my bc. I just want my hair to grow grow grow. I don't miss my relaxed hair but I do miss the length.

Thanks for the help

Congratulations on your BC!!!! I think most of us have different textures on our head so what you have is normal. What do you have right now as far as products? Since I don't know right now my only suggestion would be to wet it, apply conditioner but only rinse 1/2 of it out, apply a gel (Fantasia IC gel can be found anywhere) all over. You might have to watch a Youtube channel to see how gel is applied. I couldn't get it right my first few tries until I saw how it was done online.

If you can put it up in a ponytail then do that. I don't dye my hair so I can't recommend anything. Maybe you should hold off on that until your hair has readjusted. My hair didn't start feeling right until a few weeks later. Probably because I wasn't properly moisturizing it.

Hi congrats on your BC. Very cute fro.
I'll attempt to offer some suggestions.
I think you might have some success using conditioner as a leave-in and a denman brush.
I suggest trying it with one of these Dove intense damage control in the dark blue bottle or Aussie Moist. I do not like vo5 or suave for this but some people do.
Try shingling. I think LadyLibra has a youtube video showing how to do it. And if you go to you tube and search "shingling hair" there is a Miss Jessies how to also.

Also I think you might have some success with a flat twist - twistout if you use some setting lotion on it.

Southernbella recently colored her hair and had very nice results she used Clairol Textures & Tones Bronze, you should check with her to see how she did it. this is her album.

Congrats on your BC, looks great! I second the recommendation on the twistouts. I have different textures, and though I haven't done the big chop - just a "mid chop", I find the twistouts to be pretty uniform across all my textures - not sure what they all are at this point, as I'm just 3 months post.

HTH.

WOW ! KIH ! It looks like a nice, refreshing change for the Summer. I am sure you are going to love it. Rock you Some Glam Earrings and Just GO !

You can do alot with it now like Co-Washing and Just applying a light Creamy Moisturizing Leave-In or a nice Spritz. You have Options to keep it looking good. You're just gonna have to have some Fun Experimenting to see what your new Hair Likes!

I really wish I could help you with the Color? When I was using it, I was either using Clariol Beautiful Collection or Jazzin. Wasn't right, for Me.

I've totally given up commercial dyes for Henna/Indigo and I am Loving It. That is working really well for me.:yep:

Have Fun with Your New Do:yep:! Enjoy

Congrats on your BC!! My textures are special too but I just leave them alone.. I found that putting a little more product on the coarser parts makes it look more even.. HTH

Im about ready to do the exact same you did but Im noticing I have multiple hair textures too. :ohwell:

Congragulations on your bc. I am texlaxed but have the same problem. So something I do even though my hair is almost apl I wear puffs. When I was in that awkward stage I would were my hair in a side puff and once it dries you will not see the differences in the texture and it will still look nice. Also you can baggy your hair ever night. The more moisture your hair haves the longer it will stay moist and will have the illusion of the same texture. Also if you can flat twist or braid do the front of your hair and leave out the back or you can do it on one side and leave the other side down. I do not dye my hair so I cannot help you in this area. I hope these tips work for you.
