:wallbash: My hair is shorter on the left side.No matter how many times I get it cut evenly,it always falls a tad bit behind. Why is this?Another thing,it doesn't seem to be flowing as much as the right side.If all of my hair were exactly like the right side, you couldn't tell me nothing(BOM CHIKA WAH WAH).....Hate that song, love the commercial.Anyway, is there anything I can do about this?:help2:

Unfortunately, your hair is likely two different textures and grows at different paces. I'm not sure if you can do anything about this. I have a similiar issue accept it's my nape vs. the rest of my hair, I think your problem is maybe more troublesome because it's harder to camoflauge. My nape hair is very tightly coiled and grows at a slower pace than the rest of my hair. I get a little more than 1/4 inch per month in my nape. My crown gets a little more than 1/2 inch per month and the rest of my hair is somewhere in between. I bc'd 16 months ago and my nape is about 5 inches, my crown is 9 inches.

I think the best thing to do is to accept it and work with what you got. You should also treat each side different, they may desire different products, etc. Also really work with how you part your hair, the longer sections may be able to blend with the other half to make it appear more balanced.

You are not alone with this problem. Instead of being frustrated with my nape I finally fell in love with it and started babying it more and giving it what it wanted, which for me was more conditioning, more moisture and less handling.

I have the same problem but the opposite I feel your frustration.:sad:. I also agree, that it's probably two different textures. I had to decide to pamper the shorter side more. to do more massages, increase it's food more, spend more quality time on it..you would think I was speaking about my pet. All in all until we get to longer lengths this will be a work in progress. 'm praying that by the time I get to Arm pit in December it will be less evident. Once I hit Armpit I'm going to even the sides out. Other wise it makes no sense to keep cutting back ..I have done it several times for the year ..It has made no difference.
I'm going to give it until December.. stop stressing over it and just take good care of my hair ...,at least my hair is healthy and growing...it has to all even out in the end.:curtain:

It could be just the way your hair grows or it can be something else such as:

Which side do you sleep on.....normally this would be the side that is shorter/thinner

Do you relax your hair and if so, do you normally start relaxing your hair on the same side everytime...this can also make one side shorter/thinner than the other side.

Good Question.
I had that problem when i was relaxer and i thought it was from wraping my hair? I cut all my hair off twice and the back now grows longer than the front and my back is def a diff tex than the back. I thought it was like boobs on side is slightly bigger. I don't know?
More responces

Thank you all for responding.Sorry it took me so long to get back, but I got caught up in the Off Topic Forum.I do sleep on my left side a lot.I've also wrapped religiously from left to right for a long time.I've only been wrapping right to left for about a year.Lately though,I've been baggying my ends every night in a loose ponytail. As far as relaxers,I stretched for 9 months in hopes of going natural.I lost that battle in July @ the salon.I will definitely take in all of the info you guys give me.THANKS:grin:

I'm in the same boat. My textures are different on both sides. my right side is less curly, so it seems a lot longer than the left. I'm natural, now, but I never noticed this when I was relaxed. Go figure.
