I am finally trying Biotin

I got the 600mcg or whatever it is. Is it really all of that?

i attribute most of my growth to this

dont tell me you havent got any vitamin B's

dont take bioti nwithout vitamin B hun

otherwise it wont work too good.

i originally started with just 300mcg

and b50 complex

then i tried biotin 1,000mcg...now i'm on 5,000mcg!!!

i don't have vitamin b, but i have a womans mutli-vitamin, for active women, and amino acids

sounds great!

but add on b vitamins seperately for best results (pretty please? LOL)
 
My relaxed hair grew off of Vitol’s Great Hair. It has a quite a bit of biotin, although it does have other nutrients for hair. I stopped taking it b/c I was sure if it was safe to take such mega doses of synthetic vits. I read somewhere that even too many water soluble vitamins can be harmful, not just fat soluble ones. I have been taking isolated biotin along with a separate b-complex vitamin. It is too early to notice any results, but I was thinking about phasing the biotin out. Now I’m not sure if I want to do that since you got such good results Candy_ C. [/FONT]

thats really good to be wary of vitamins, i too am quite wary, and only take a few water soluable, and a few fat soluables.

keep with the biotin and b complex

trust me,

give it 3months so see a change
then after that its plain sailing, they dont lose effect either no matter how long you take them.

yes, do not take biotin without a b-complex as well! i've been reading on the board about people breaking out with pianful bumps from biotin, but i hadn't experienced this at all until recently ...

i've been taking biotin/b-vits for at least 10 yrs. when i get close to running out of my vits i buy more. sounds simple enough. well this past time, i went to the vitaminshoppe and was picking up my usuals, but the salesperson kept insisting that i try this new multivitamen specifically formulated for men. (vitaminshoppe ultimate man)... i usually ignore products marketed for men or women, i just buy (after reading/researching) what i think will work for me ... but this salesperson seemed nice & informed, the ingredients seemed to be the same, & i was in a rush, so i bit & bought it.

well later, when i get home and looked more closely at the label, i noticed the serving size is 2 pills a day! mistake #1. i don't do divided dosages. i am too forgetful to be trying to take pills throughout the day. i like to take them in the morning and be done with it. (i've tried taking them at night, but for some strange reason they keep me awake whenever i've tried that) then i notice that this multi has exactly half the b-vitamin complex (50 mg) that my usual multi has (100 mg). mistake #2. i should have taken them back right then & there, but no, i was going to try them out and see if it worked ... big mistake.

over the next couple of months my body i would break out in these painful bumps. it would only be 2-3 of them, but even if you just brushed up against one or lightly touched it, it would be painful:eek: . i didn't know what was wrong with me at the time:lol: i thought maybe i was eating too much fat, or maybe i'd caught something:eek: thankfully neither of these were the case:lol: cause i was not amused. well to make a long story short, i hadn't made the connection that it was from my vits until i read about people with similar symptoms on this board. then i was like:eek: dang! it's been that lame-broke-behind-multi all along!

thankfully i'm back to my regular multi (vitaminshope nutri-100) and there's not a bump to be found:lol: whew:lachen: i take a 5mg biotin pill and that baby was too strong for that vs ultimate man multi. it was kickin it's butt all over the place, and i was suffering for it:lol: . the balance of b-vits was off and it showed painfully in my skin. so definitely don't take biotin (or any vitamin, by itself) they're meant to work together, synergistically, in balance, other wise you may be in for a world of hurt.:grin:
 
I just started with my biotin 1000mcg also about a month ago. I don't have any vitamin B as suggested but I am taking a b-12 supplement (for stress) and a women's multi vitamin... do those count? :)
