I Ain't Playin' - 2013/2014 Steppin' Out

Ladies - I am on a personal mission to complete an "improved me" by end of May 2014 and showcase my efforts - the first week-end in June (2014)

I ain't playin - I am steppin' out in 2014. I bought my "steppin' out dress in 2012, in the size I plan on being at that time - cause I ain't playin' I'm gonna step out.
I plan to make me some shirts with the slogan "I ain't playin' ' - cause I ain't playin'

I am not starting a challenge but if you have similar goals and you ain't playin' and WILL meet them in 2013 or 2014 - please join me and this thread.

The only things I ask is that you:
1. If you playin' don't step up in here
2. Post everything you are trying to improve and what you are doing to "improve you" and meet your goal. (I don't believe in total make-overs - just continued improvements).
That includes hair, exercise, diet, weight, nails, skin, attitude, dress, finances, relationships. Told you - I ain't playin'.
3. As opposed to starting a new post please just edit your post if you change something in your I Ain't Playin' Regimen. This way, everything that you are doing is in one location and it avoids searching numerous posts for all of pieces of "the puzzle". Each poster should have only 1 post with their I Ain't Playin Regimen
4. Progress updates should be included in your original post along and after you are successful in that area mark it Success/Completed.

I believe this is going to help me stay focused, track progress and will serve as a journal.

The second week in December and last week of May are the "Steppin out" showcase events. I'll edit this post later with "Steppin Out" details. I hope you ladies will help me decide how we are going to Step Out.

I'll go first... here is my "I Ain't Playin' Regimen":

Hair Goal: BSL/MBL and re-grow hair in two bald patches
  • Currently CBL/SL ***3/24 Update - I should have updated this 3/16. Hair stylist confirmed during trim I am definitely SL :yay:
  • Growing to APL goal ***7/15 Update - No change
  • Taking Oral supplements( Vit C, Vit D, , HSN, Bamboo Extract, Chlorella, Spirulina,) 7/15 Update - stopped taking Biotin and replaced it with Viviscal
  • Applying (Sulfur0 mix and hair growth oil blend with Liquid MSM 2-3x week 7/15 Update - stopped applying sulfur mix. Added Liquid MSM to oil blend.
  • Massaging scalp with hair growth oil blends 2- 3x week
  • Have split ends trimmed every 3 months ***7/15 UpdateTime for a trim
  • Massaging bald areas with doctor prescribed fluocinonide 0.05% ointment (7/15 UPDATE: Tiny fuzzy hair still growing in the spots :yep:)
  • Daily use of coconut oil
  • Daily condition, moisturize, seal, baggy ***7/15 - still M&s and bagging. .
  • Protective style: Wearing hair in braids under wig
  • Weekly shampoo and deep conditioning 5/12: After shampooing , DCing, applying hair growth oil blend and wrapping hair in Saran Wrap (see above) .
  • Monthly protein treatment
  • Buy a length check shirt ***3/16 Update:grin: ACCOMPLISHED :grin: - Shirt received
Skin Goal: Remove scars and even skin tone
  • Being applying doctor prescribed HQ 4% to scars - ***5/12 Update One scar is gone . Three others continue to fade
  • Continue to Bathe/Shower with Kojic acid/Papaya soap ***5/12 Update - No change. Skin is exfoliating a great deal with Green Papaya Soap and Lactic Acid lotion ***
  • Resume weekly Lactic Acid peels - ** Need to improve :ohwell:**
  • Resume use of Lactic acid lotion ***5/12 Update Still applying daily
  • Prepare and resume use of DIY skin tone cream ***5/12 Update No change. Made two variations of cream. One for body and one for face. Applying daily
  • Resume use of Retin A (various strength) ***5/12 Update: No change. Using daily
  • Resume daily use of sunblock
  • Continue applying various essential oils to body
  • Mix aloe vera juice/jel in one of above preparations
  • Continue alternative medicine research for treatment
Fingernails Goal: Grow .75 to 1 inch strong nails
  • Continue above vitamin regimen
  • Stop using nails as tools :ohwell:
  • Keep cuticles pushed back
  • Bi-weekly manicures (clear polish only)
Toes/Toenails Goal: Keep corns at bay and Eliminate dark toenails
  • Studying alternative medicines for treatment of dark toenails
  • Daily application of tea tree oil
  • Monthly foot soaks in vinegar
  • Allow feet to breathe a couple of hours a day (no socks, shoes, etc.)
  • Bi-weekly pedicures (clear polish covering only)

Teeth Goals: Whiten teeth and replace missing back teeth:blush:
  • Continue oil pulling
  • Continue dental hygiene
  • Enforce habit to brush and rinse with H2O2 midday at work
  • Dental bridge ***5/2/13 Update - BRIDGE COMPLETED**:grin:
Weight/Diet/Exercise Goal: Lose 25 pounds :sad:***5/12 Update: I am doing terrible in this area. So this week I will make this one of my main areas of concentration (along with God and hair). I WILL have a status improvement update by April 1.
  • Current weight is 167 lbs. 5'11"
  • Continute 18/6 intermittent fast ***5/12 Update - Feel off need to resume and improve
  • Incorporate 2x week 24 hour fast ***5/12 Update - Feel off need to resume and improve
  • Increase walking from 3 miles @ day to 5 mile @ day***5/12 Update - Feel off need to resume and improve
  • Participate in 5k and half marathon races***5/12 Update - Feel off need to resume and improve
  • Utilize one of 3 :spinning: fitness center memberships and exercise***5/12 Update - Feel off need to resume and improve
  • Elilminate fried foods completely from diet ***5/12 Update - In progress
  • Eliminate meat from diet (consume only seafood) In progress

Innerself/Spirituality Goals: PLEASE GOD and Be better person than I was yesterday. **7/15 Update:D daily effort to improve - Forever ongoing
  • Continue studying the word
  • Continue praying - (NC::I thank the Lord throughout the day)
  • Continue being loving, kind, giving, helpful to others
Relationship Goal: Meet a "Godly" significant other (SO) to step out with***7/15 Update: Still preparing.
  • Remember The Word's definition of "evenly yoked"
  • Be open to partner of different ethnicity
  • Continue being a lady expecting a gentlemen
  • Refuse to "settle"
  • Continue to remember a good or "evenly yoked" partner does not mean a "wealthy or handsome"
  • Continue to demonstrate that I am an asset not a liability :yep:
Financial Goal: Increase savings by 20%
  • Continue to reduce spend on clothing
  • Reduce spend on hair products (yep I did go there)- 7/15 Update: Replacing existing products (oils mainly). Purchased two new products: Shikakai bar and MSM liquid. roducts.
  • Eliminate "it was on sale" purchases - 7/15 Update - I have been BADDDD!!! - jewelry is one of my weaknesses and Lordy Lordy have I purchased some jewelry. I have got to do better!!!
  • Reduce spend on vitamins/supplements ***7/15 Update - Replaced one supplement with another. Lot more costly so spend has increased :ohwell:
  • Reduce all debt by 100% (excluding mortgage) 7/15 Update- still reducing
  • Grow business market share and product offering ***7/15 Update: GOD IS GOOD - THANK YOU LORD - business is still very good. Plan to release an improved version of an existing product by
  • 3Q2013
Travel Goal: Travel to Hong Kong in April 2014 and Africa September 2014
  • Use funds from increased savings (above)
  • Use funds from reduced debt (above)
Miscellaneous:
  • Print regimen and post at home, office and business to keep goals in front of me ***ACCOMPLISHED***
  • Ask The Father (daily) to help me achieve these goals (Mat 7:7 - Ask and it will be given to you) and Believe that I will succeed (James 1:6 - But when he asks he must believe and not doubt)
  • Review regimen at least twice a week to remain motivated. Update every 2 weeks at a minimum

You know I'm all over this!! My birthday is May 1st, so I can step out for my birthday next year in style!!!!

Ok, so here are my "Steppin' Out" details:

1. I want to improve my business. I will gain 6 new long term clients by the end of 2013. ** 3/17/2013 Marketing plan complete. Website redesign in progress. Marketing will commence around the 2 week of May. I was able to find a database that will allow me to access and pull together marketing lists for FREE! SCORE! **5/20/2013 After doing the website for my church, I had some interested parties contact me. 1 has turned into a client.

2. I will make MBL by December 31, 2013. I need about 6 inches of hair. I will achieve this goal by wearing conrows year long. I will buy some ponytails and keep it moving. I will also keep my pj'ism under control. I have ordered everything that I need to get my hair to grow at 1inch faithfully every month. I just need to keep up with this. ** 3/17/2013 I kept my conrows in until the last minute, lol. I can say that I got a little more than an inch of growth in the 4 weeks they were in. I was a little sad bc it looked like my hair was missing the mark, but when I took them down, it was a whole different story. Pics attached. Dont talk about my ends yall. I know they ratty, LOL. But my stylist is going to get rid of them after this round of braids. Im also growing out a hair boo boo that wrecked a lot of the progress I had previously made. So this is another reason that I am serious about growing out my hair. I can get rid of the scraggly boo boo and just be left with healthy hair. ***4/11/2013 Just took down my 2nd set of conrows & this hair is on the move. I definitely think I will make MBL way before the end of the year. If it keeps growing like this, I may make WL by the end of the year. We will see what happens. **5/20/2013 My hair is in tree braids right now. These not even been in a month and my braids are loose. These may not last much longer. They look cute, but with my hair growing at about an inch a month, this may not have been a good idea, lol.

3. I will be down to my goal weight of 170 no later than May 2014. Starting Monday, I will be working out 5 days a week. I will walk 1 mile in the morning and will alternate Jillian Michaels' Ripped in 30 & Taebo T3 monthly so that my body does not get used to one thing. I will also be faithful in drinking my protein shakes. I have found that when I do this, my snacking in under control. **3/17/2013 Still in progress. I have to get back on my healthy snacks. I need to find some new recipes. ***4/11/2013 This is still in progress, LOL **5/20/2013 After meeting with my doctor and being placed on a vegan diet for high blood pressure, I have lost weight, about 10 pounds. Now I just need to get my act together and start walking again.

4. I will make WL by April 2014, so I can SWANG for my birthday. This is more conrows. If I leave my hair out, I will be tempted to play in. This will not get me to my goals, so conrows it is. ** 3/17/2013 See update above. If I continue with 1in a month, then I will make WL (possibly a little longer) by the end of this year. ***4/11/2013 Due to the rate of hair growth, I think this goal may be met by the end of the year. Fingers crossed. Pic is attached below. **5/20/2013 I am rockin tree braids right now, so I cant tell exactly how much it has grown. I will see how long I can get these braids to last.

5. Help my oldest tryout for the track team. She wants to run, but is not old enough to run by herself, so that means that I have to run with her. I am NO runner, but I will help my baby with this. This one is on-going. **3/17/2013 Im being cheap and waiting for a good sale since I have to buy 2 pairs of GOOD running shoes. I'm trying to be a good steward over what I have been given. **5/20/2013 In progress **9/2/2013 She has since changed her mind and decided that she wants to do dance.

6. Find some herbal remedies for my babies and their illnesses. I have some really sick kiddies and these doctors are just guessing at what "might" help. If anyone is going to guess, I would rather it be me. At least I am trying to help them, NOT get a paycheck. **3/17/2013 All my babies got their hair braided. The stylist was so impressed with the health of their hair. She asked me what did I do? The only thing I have done for them is give them ALL 1g of Chlorella daily and cut back on the juice/soda & up their water. I guess for them, its working from the inside out. My daughter thats really sick, I think I will end up bumping her to 3g a day over the next few months. The doctors want to put her on a "less" potent drug that is safer long term. I don't like that thought. ***4/11/2013 I can now say that since giving ALL my girls this for the past 30 days, I have been able to take my middle child OFF the rx drugs that the doctors gave her. She has not had any tummy troubles. No pain, no fevers, no nothing! This will be a staple in my house. My younger are straight GANGSTA!!! They chew 1.4g and chase with Sunny D. I aint even there yet! LOL **5/20/2013 The babies now ask for their green medicine faithfully. And they get it! **9/2/2013 This has happened. It seems most of the things that plagued my children just a few months ago are no longer issues. This goal is completed.

That's all I have for now. As I complete these, I will come back to add more. Baby steps :yep:

**3/17/2013 Additional goals:

- Educational: 3 degrees in 3 years (2013 AAS in Web & Multimedia Technology, 2014 AA in Sociology & AS in Business Admin) ***4/11/2013 After speaking with an advisor, I am on track for graduation next month and after the summer session, I only need 9 more classes to get my Biz Admin & Sociology degrees next year. **5/20/2013 As of 5/18/2013, I have one degree down! Graduation was Saturday. I need 8 more classes and I will have the other 2 degrees. **9/2/2013 After my scare this summer in the hospital, I figured that it would be better for me to revise this. so instead of three degrees in 3 years, I will have 2 degrees and a certificate. Degrees in Web & Multimedia Technology & Business Admin and a certificate in Marketing.

-Family: Find us a house in 2014. I have outgrown my current place, both physically & mentally. It is time for us to go and place roots in the place God has for us. **5/20/2013 I have spoken with a mortgage broker & real estate agent to assist me in getting us a house. I am on track to making that happen. I have some credit classes to take, but other than that, I am on track to getting one next year. **9/2/2013 Once again after my health situation this summer, I decided that it would be better for my family and I to rent for another 2-3 years and take some of the stress off myself. I have however found the place that we will move to. We visited and everyone loved it. So this goal has been completed.

"I Aint Playing Goals" To be achieved from now up to December 2014

Hair:
Grow out heat damaged hair
BSL by June 2013
MBL by December 2013
WL by June 2014
HL by December 2014 (hopefully I will get there quicker)

What do I intend to do to get there?
Use up my current product stash
Buy a Komaza hair analysis
Lock down my HG and staple products
create a simple regimen and stick to it using the advice given to me from the hair analysis service.
Continue to PS, take care of my ends and stretch my relaxers
Start taking Priteva again (April 2013)

Skin/Nails:
Get rid of PIH (post inflamatory hyper-pigmentation)
Look after cuticles
Sort out darkened toenails ( I've had a few incidents were my feet have been trampled on while I've been out and I've started to notice they have discoloured).

What do I intend to do to get there?
Go back to using my Obagi Nu Derm (non HQ formula) and retin A I found about a third of a tube of tretinoin that's still in date and have started on my Obagi programme again
Start doing my my masks again (REN Glycolactic) and glycolic acid peels when I finish the Obagi
Go back to using sunscreen daily 6th of March I started using sunscreen daily again
Go and see a Chiropodist
Oil cuticles at least once a day
Start wearing nail polish again

Teeth:
Have my teeth whitened by my dentist
Continue dental hygiene including regular Hygenist visits
find the charger to my electric tooth brush

Spirituality:
Get right with God and be a good example
Put my life in God's hands
Studying the word
Fasting
Be gentle and humble
Live each day as though it could be my last

Home:
Try and find a bigger place (if not improve the place I live in now and buy it)
De-clutter my home (working one section at a time till everywhere has been sorted out)
Re-lay a new lawn in my garden in the spring, dig up the old one and level it out
Cook healthy meals more often
Stay on top of the housework and laundry
Buy some new garden funiture

Relationships:
Tell the people I love that I love them regularly
Make time to spend quality time with family and friends I have been going out for dinner/lunch/drinks with family and friends, my goal is to do something at least every two weeks. I have also been in touch and met up with some old friends
Make an effort with all of my relationships work/family/friends

Job:
Get back into the work I used to do which will increase my current income (may have to retrain as so many changes have happened since I stopped)
Start some voluntary work
Start up a business

Financial:
Pay off my debts I intend to do this at the end of this year if not before
Improve my credit rating
Save (I have 4 pots going for various different things)
Reduce the amount I spend on clothing and footwear
Reduce the amount I spend on my hair in general (locking down staples should help)
Stop window shopping/buying unnecessarily/impulsively (I duplicate purchases because I have so much stuff)
Upgrade my car (I'm not in a hurry to do this)

Education/Personal development
Keep a positive attitude
Turn negatives into positives
Refresh my computer skills by starting the online courses I've already paid for in computers (multiple Microsoft courses)
Get fluent in Spanish by starting the Spanish courses I've already paid for (4 courses)
Be focused
Start reading again especially books to feed my brain and my soul

Travel:
Visit Nigeria (I'm going next month), Morocco and Egypt I'm aiming to do one in August and one in November if all goes well
Visit a Caribbean Island I haven't already been to (will probably do this next year for one of my bestie's overseas wedding)
Thailand (April 2014) another of my besties are getting married abroad
Visit Italy 2014 (I want to do a tour of the whole country)
Visit Hawaii with the kids (I'm giving myself 2-3 years for this one)

Welcome - I am glad that you will be posting.

One of my professional disciplines is "Project Manager" and the only way to manage a project of any size is to document, track, report out on the project. So I am bringing this discipline to my 2014 goal, which is a project IMO

Had I been able to continue on the path I started - my financial portfolio would be banging right now.

But marriage, husband, baby, divorce, single mom, jobs... took a toll.

Even still - I have been blessed to accomplish things many only dream of.
NEVER STOP TRYING!!! My EX- husband looks at me now - with the **** I **** up look and I just smile and tell him the other ways God has blessed me since our divorce.

ilong Hi! When the new year came in,I made up my mind,to keep unmotivated,woe is me folks,out of my personal space..Trust me,they still try to find a way,with texting & other nonsense,but I smile and say..Not Today.

*I'm a community activist & organizer..Help,encourage,motivate..etc..I get a lot if slack from,clergy,politicians to your every day folk..I made up my mind,to do me..This is the year..Start my OWN.

I plan to DOUBLE my savings. I currently have a pretty nice safety blanket, but with this job market constantly taking a hit I want a secure cushion. I need to be able to have at least a 3rd of my yearly salary saved J.I.C! Severance packages can only go so far :yep:.

My Walk with God:

I love and trust him, but I def. can stand to put more energy into my relationship with him.

I love this thread! I also ain't playin' this year! I will be 30 :blush: in about 3.5 months and I WILL be the best me I can be by then. I have been eating healthier in order to finally lose this baby weight. So far I have lost about 8.5 pounds and have about 25 more to go. I am eating cleaner and avoiding processed foods. :yep: I also have a goal of BSL hair by the end of the year.

By December 2014 I will have achieved these goals

Body
Will be at 18% body fat (currently 25%)
Will be able to do chin ups and dips unassisted

Im currently improving my diet, actually pretty much where I need it to be health wise. But will have tweak further to achive my body fat goal
Im also beginning to love weight training, im seeing improvement in my muscle tone, but again, need to tweak diet.

Hair
Will be MBL

Ive got my hair routine pretty much down pat. As long as I dont do anything silly and cause a setback, I should be able to achive this.

finances
Will have my apt rented (for additional income)
Will have paid off all my credit cards

Ive been working on paying off my credit cards, only 2 left to pay off.
Getting my apt rented is something ive been toying with, since I dont spend much time there anyway. I need to upgrade a couple things, 2 major projects will be the bathroom and kitchen.

Home
Will be neat (I suck at being neat)

Yep since childhood ive been messy and I need to do better.
Ive been working at improving but even after I get my place cleaned, I can mess it right back up in like 2 hours, im skilled like that, unfortunately.

I really like this and I''m in. By May 31, 2014 I will:

Body:
- Get down to my goal weight of 150lbs
- take better care of my skin
- take better care of my nails (fingers & toes)
- Fix me newly developed bad eating habits (I'm stronger than a cookie!)

Hair:
- get to full, healthy waist length
- be better at doing consistent DCs
- use up my stash and be less of a PJ

Finances:
- be consistent with my savings
- pay off the new car I really didn't want to buy
- generally be a better steward of my money

Personal Relationships:
- just be better towards and more appreciative of the wonderful people in my life
- be more social

ilong for dark toenails (from nail polish etc) use baking soda mixed with hydrogen peroxide to make a paste. Apply to toenails and leave on for 5 to 10 mins. While washing off lightly scrub the toenails with the paste, the baking soda is abrasive and helps to buff ur nails.

Pat dry and add some oil to the nails.
Ive stopped using nail polish since november and used this paste weekly. My nails are pretty and clear now. I dont intend to use nail polish any more.

Also check the health section, there is a thread about natural foot care.
