How to "shape" my twist out?

So, lately I've been experimenting with twist-outs. While the curl patterns come out nice, my hair is going every which way over my head :lol I have been using a scarf to tie down my edges so at least I can pull it all back with a headband in the morning. But I'd like some alternatives.

I *do* try to twist my hair in the direction I want it to go (so I make a part and twist one way on one side and one way on the other), but it still doesn't come out quite the way I want it.

Any suggestions?

If you put rollers on the end, I like the satin bed rollers, they give the ends a nice finish and the weight of them pulls your hair downwards.
Now that my hair is longer I don't need to do this.

Maybe you can also try flat twist outs to give it a different look. I also cosign on either using rollers on the ends, or bantu knotting the ends.

i find sometimes when I have a wonky twistout section, its because I didnt fully untwist the twist - like down to the scalp, so the section ends up sticking up.
