...or how small/short would you like them to be? I haven't seen a thread like this (maybe I didn't look hard enough) and maybe there can be some little helpful tips here and there in short regimens/stashes and why they work.

My stash isn't short, but I would like have have 5-6 staples in every category, i.e shampoo, rinsing condishes, DC's, oils, pomades, butters ETC. 5-6 may seem like alot, but I love variety :). My regimen is pretty standard and set in place. I don't do alot AT ALL! Keepin' it simple has been my hair philosophy for a while now :yep:.

I have a teeny stash.

Cleanser: Yes to Carrots shampoo
Detangler/rinse-out/deep condish/moisturizer: Jane Carter Replenishing Condish (they reformulated so I need to find another soon)
Sealant: Komaza Califia Moisturizing Cream

I also use rhassoul clay and I have 2 other non-staples (a mousse and a natural grease).

I don't know why the majority of us feel we need so many things... if it contains water it will moisturize, if it doesn't contain water it will seal. It's a marketing sham to make us believe we need a rinse out and a different deep conditioner and a different leave-in/moisturizer...they all use the same ingredients for the most part.

This sounds like my daughter's regimen. I wash her hair with all natural shampoo (which ever we have on hand), condition and finger detangle while I'm rinsing it out, spray on detangler (just started adding a cream on top) and braid. Bath/hair time is a total of 15 minutes or less.

I'd like to have one staple and two back-ups that I could rotate into my regimen if my staple changed formulations or became difficult to get. The exception is oils and butters. :infatuated: I'll always have 10 + in my stash because they have whole body uses.

Staples:

Shampoo- Keracare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo
Deep Conditioner- Naturelle Grow Marshmallow Root... Conditioner
Mild Protein: AO GPB
Medium Protein: Komaza Protein Strengthener (possible permanent addition)
Moisturizer (Spray): Komaza Califia Spray (for cornrows, twists)
Moisturizer (Cream): Komaza Shea Lotion
Oils and Butters: many
Heat Protectant: PM Super Skinny/ Redken Smooth Glide

Most of the board understands the rudimentary basics of a hair care regimen and that dozens of products are not needed to maintain one's hair. It''s not the need so much as the want. The whole beauty industry is built on it. How many formulations and reformulations of lotions, creams, make up, polishes, cleansers, etc are really necessary? However, there's an enjoyment in indulging in products and it's hobby for many.

I'm not knockin it, I know PJism is real  I refuse to play that game though. I was looking at my lip balm the other day like "daaang shea and cocoa butter? Coconut and argan oil?! Can I seal with this??" (I didn't I didn't!)

It's very real and most PJ's don't want a cure. Look at all handmade hair skin nails cuticles and elbows too business models popping up with every product made of 75% shea butter plus insert exotical oil du jour. :spinning: I ain't mad at them.

i've been actively trying to reduce my stash.

co-wash conditioner (whatevers on sale)
shampoo elasta qp creme conditioning
conditioner aphogee 2 min
deep conditioner (haven't found a good one yet)
moisturiser hawaiian silky miracle worker
sealantserum or whatever oils in the kitchen

im actually trying to seal with silicone serums because i'm tired of leaving oily patches everywhere i go.
and i don't believe in food in hair. if you want to get the full benefits, eat it in a salad or something

i don't judge pj's though. i get real pleasure from shopping for new products and trying new things

My first year on this board, I went hog wild and loved every minute of being a pj. My stash is extremely large, so I am going to be using a variety of products for a while. That being said I have found my regime, and it is surprisingly simple.
Wash Day
1. Henna instead of Shampoo
2. ACV/Tea rinse
3. Massage Scalp with Emu oil blend
4. Deep Conditioner or Co wash
5. Sunflower oil
6. Butter on my ends

During the week
1. Tea rinse hair and scalp
2. Neem oil and Growth Treatment

I really think I could just henna, and grease my hair. I don't need to shampoo anymore, but I still do because it is a habit. The henna seems to deep condition my hair, define my curls, and scrub my scalp, and help my hair hold moisture so I just use my deep conditioners as a leave in. Of course if might be all the water, smoothies and vitamins LHCF got me eating that has my hair so easy to manage.

I embrace minimalism & I don't like to have multiples of any product. It just drives me insane to have 2 conditioners or 4 leave-ins...unnecessary in my opinion! I have:

a sulfate-free shampoo (acts as cleanser and conditioner)
a chlorine removal shampoo (may not be necessary but I don't play with chlorine in my hair!)
a light protein deep conditioner
a leave-in/moisturizer
gel
heat protectant and a flat iron (for my bangs)

That's it! I don't seal anymore so I don't have an oil in my regimen, and of course the gel and heat tools are optional. I experiment and may use other products from time to time, and I do have hair accessories like a comb and elastics, but those are my main products. I like having a small stash that is mobile and easy to work with :)

Regimen is simple and I love it, my hair requires so little. Stash is mega huge, I'm a PJ, I like buying and trying out new stuff but ugh... it's getting annoying having all this extra crap and my actual diehards are decreasing. I have stuff that aren't even opened yet. :nono:

Regimen:

Shampoo with zinc pyrithione shampoo or regular shampoo
Condition
Styers (optional, usually is some styling oil or serum)
Blow-dry or air-dry (currently in a blow-drying for sleek results)

^ That's it! I try to do this every 4-7 days, depending on if my hair gets stinky/dry/oily. (I don't moisturize, seal, or anything like that. It's a rare thing if even pre-poo.)

I've really toned down the needless purchases once I figured out what works for me.

Shampoo (Shea moisture, the raw shea butter one)
Conditioner (Honey, I'm strong, Aussie moist)
Leave in conditioner creme (From curls unleashed)
Styling jelly (Also from curls unleashed. Less hold than most gels, but it gives definition without any crunch.)

Sometimes I just want my hair to smell differently, so I'll use hair one, but that's rare. I still have half a bottle from a purchase made in december.

I spend about 20-35 bucks a month or hair products now. I buy big bottles of conditioner. They cost roughly around 6.50- 7.00 dollars. I buy conditioner about twice a month. The curls unleashed products cost 14.99 but the creme doesn't last as long as the jelly. Shampoo lasts forever. I bought two bottles of shea moisture in February and still have more than half in both bottles.

Edit: Forgot to mention my regi.

It's simple, as it should be. My hair is fine and with too much manipulation I'll hear a very faint "snapping" sounds (breakage.)

I shampoo usually 2-3 times a week.
I co wash almost every day
If I'm not feeling lazy, I part my in four section to apply the leave in and styling products. It's getting warmer now I'm diffusing less.

Compared to many pjs my stash is short, but I'd like it have even less products. I usually have a few products that I use and rotate but it's the extra products that I've bought that I don't care for that take up space and I end up giving away and wasting $.

I like to have 2 poos
2 Moisturizing deep conditioners
1 rinse out/ quick wash conditioner (Elucence/Kenra)
1 hair moisturizer
1 hair spritz - S curl, KBB moisture mist, whatever
1 item gel type product for my edges - Fantasia gel
1 item for if I want hold for twist outs/ etc.

My stash is a little more than this.. I have about 4 bottles of poo that i use here and there. 3 leave in conditioners when I only use one of them.

My regi is simple though:
Wash 1 -2x week
DC 1x per week
Apply leave in
air dry

All I do is cowash dc and bun. That's basically my Reggie
Products HELTR for my condish AO GPB & WC for my DC NTM leave in elasta qp mango butter for my mosisturizer and seal with olive or coconut oil. Yup that's it.
I may throw some aussie 3MM in there if I'm feelin frisky (and I remember to buy it.) It's all cheap and it works. No need for me to try all this stuff when I know what Ima go back to.

ETA I will do the aphogee 2step every blue moon

I shampoo with Shea Moisture, do a protein treatment with Aphogee 2-minute. Condition with Giovanni 2chic, then in this order:Jojoba Oil, KCKT, KCCC, Nubian Heritage Styling Custard, more Jojoba oil. And I deep condition with honey, conditioner, and oils. And I cowash with whatever (not my precious 2chic). But I only have 5 inches of hair, and once I run out of something I usually replace it with something new, but similar. IE, I just replaced castor oil with jojoba. But I really love the Kinky Curly line so I will stay

My stash:

  1. Sulfate-free shampoo
  2. Wen Pomegranate
  3. Wen 613
  4. Aphogee 2 min reconstructor
  5. Aubrey Organics (Honeysuckle) Moisturizing Conditioner
  6. Carol's Daughter Edge Tamer
  7. Wen Hair gel
  8. Castor Oil

For flat ironing:

Ion blow drying creme
Mizani Thermastrength spritz

I used to be such a hardcore PJ, but being broke changed my tastes from natural hair lines to cheaper all natural or drugstore products. Then, I wanted to become a minimalist, but relapse (wasted my money on SSI) and I will not do that again :nono:. So right now I have more products than I want to use.

Shampoo: GF Pure Clean Poo, ACV
DC: SSI Pomegranate condish and Okra Reconstructor, Mills Creek Biotin Condish, a tiny bit of AO Blue Camomile, sometimes I have Aphogee 2 min Reconstructor
Cowash/Detangler: Pantene truly natural, Aussie Moist, V05
Leave-in: SSI Marshmallow Hair Cream (I've given up using this), GF Pure Clean condish (current), Aussie Moist
Sealant: SSI Coconut Sorbet, Vatika oil, oil, SSI Amazon Pomade
Styler: WOC gel, EcoStyler gel, GF Pure Gel

My regimen is a little random, but is basically shampoo or cowash, DC or condition, detangle, apply leave-in and twist my hair into 4 twists. I usually add gel for a wng, or I'll use pomade to twists or braid. Sometimes I do a CO pre-poo.

I don't have much going on in my regimen, I just need to get faster so it doesn't take as long . I do want to cut my stash down to a cleanser, homemade DC/AO Blue Camomile/ Aphogee, 1 condish for leave-in, 2 gels and oil to seal.

I have more products than I can store in one place.
This is a photo of my stash from the cabinet.

There is more in the bathroom, including a 54 ounce tub of coconut oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, leave ins, shampoos and conditioners.

I'd like to get my stash down to 1 or 2 of each product:

Shampoo - Tresseme Naturals works fine, low sulfates

Deep conditioner (moisture/protein) - I love Aubrey Organics GPB

leave in conditioner - Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship (old formula) but I will need something else when I run out.

Sealant - I have Vatika oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, coconut oil and safflower oil

Styling butter/cream (Curl Prep or Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme)

heat protectant (for blow outs/ flat ironing) - I use Nioxin

setting lotion (for rollersetting) - I use diluted lottabody

Serum - I have a John Freida serum

My regimen changes from week to week. This week is buns. Next week is probably twist outs. I was in a wig a couple of weeks ago and I also did a wash & go for 5 days prior to the wig.

I got my stash down and lost the desire to get it back up again. I have my staple products for the most part and as long as the formulations remain the same, I will keep using them. Still testing some moisturizers so I can have variety.

My products are:
- Ouidad Curl Co-Wash for cleansing;
- Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo as clarifier;
- CJ Repair Me and Bask Vanilla Repairative Hair Soak for deep conditioning;
- TJ TTT/Desert Essence conditioner for co-washing and detangling/rinse out;
- CJ Curl Rehab as a leave-in;
- Oyin Hair Dew and Bee Mine Luscious as moisturizers;
- Xtreme gel; and
- Meadow foam seed and rice bran oils.

My regimen is pretty simple. I try to go by how my hair and scalp feel.

- Wash/CoWash 1-3x a week
- Clarifying 1x a month and DCing for 30-60 mins
- Use oils on wet hair, leave in conditioner, and seal with moisturizer down the length of my hair
- Usually bun/french braids/dutch braids/braid outs

My regimen is short: Once a week I DC, lo-poo (rinse), then oil rinse. More specifically, outside of shower: I deep condition on dry hair (15min), shampoo scalp w/diluted poo in applicator bottle, rinse deep conditioner & poo out at once, then oil rinse w/castor oil.

Low on products too: AO Gpb for DC, Komaza products for daily spritz (Califia Moisture Spray/Aloe Moist Spritz), leave-in (Shea Lotion or AO Hsr) and sealant (Jojoba Hemp Oil).

I only keep my staples on hand, so it's not really a stash.

Shampoo - black soap
DC - SD Vanilla Silk
Conditioner - SD Destination Hydration
Sealer - Darcy's Madagascar Vanilla or castor oil
Moisturizer - Darcy's Peach Kernel

My regimen is to wash and DC every 1-2 weeks. Detangle as needed, usually when I wash, unless my hair is in braids or twists. Right now I'm wearing twists for 2-3 weeks at a time and then twist out for a week, so I only have to detangle once a month. I spread my twisting out over a few days so I don't get fed up. Between washes I moisturize and seal a few times per week.

I try to wear styles that last a week or longer so I don't have to spend a lot of time re-doing my hair.

My stash is so much smaller than it used to be and I'm not a PJ anymore.
The only products I use all the time are;
--Head and Shoulders Dry Scalp Shampoo
--Tesco Coconut Conditioner (leave-in)
--Bee Mine Luscious Balancing Moisturiser
--Coconut Oil
--Aubrey Organics WC Conditioner (DC)

From time to time i may switch it up but that's all i need.
I'm sure I'll soon eliminate the Bee Mine because it costs way too much to get here in the UK

I'm looking to use/reduce my stash and find more products that have multiple uses.

Prepoo: vatika oil or any oil I have on hand
Shampoo: sulfate free and clarifying shampoo
Conditioner: cheapy conditioner mixed with oils, Aubrey organics condish
Leave in: kknt
Butter: Shea butter or cocoa butter
Gel: kkcc or la looks sport gel

I think I finally got my stash down to:

Chelating shampoo
Baking soda
Apple cider vinegar
Rinse out conditioner
Deep conditioning oils
Tea spray
Leave in conditioner
Protein spray

As of right now I wash/condition/blow dry every other day and deep condition once a week. It's been working well... can't wait for my touch up next month

I am a PJ...I'm not proud of it :look: Just yesterday I spent $70 on new products. But I'm trying to find some staples right now. Currently...

Shampoo- Giovanni Deep Moisture (used weekly)
VO5 clarifying shampoo (used when needed, about every 6-8 weeks)

Rinse-out Conditioner- VO5 Moisture Milks Passion Peach smoothie (new, going to try to use for detangling or prepoos)
Mane n Tail (new, going to try as a midweek Cowash)

Deep Conditioner- Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque
Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Smoothie (I alternate the 2 of these every other week)

Leave-in Conditioner- Carol's Daughter Hair Milk (used after shampooing)
Infusium 23 Repair and Renew (used mixed with S-Curl to refresh during the week)

Moisturizer- S-Curl (used once a week after shampooing)
Shea Moisture Thickening Growth Milk (used same as S-Curl)

Sealer- Carol's Daughter Monoi Strengthening oil (new, will use 1-2 times a week to seal)
Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter (new, will use on ends of hair to help seal better and soften-my ends need help!)
Liquid Gold growth oil (used for scalp massages every other day)

This is not ALL my products, however. Sad, but true! I have some others that I did not find impressive so I am using them up on my daughters hair and they work great for her type 2c/3a hair. I know it looks like a lot but most of these products are only used weekly or every other week and each serves its own purpose. We'll see how my new products do!

Products:

Terressentials Mud Wash
Oils/butters: EVCO, castor, avocado butter

Regimen
Wash day (1x/week): prepoo w/ EVCO, mudwash, oils & butter as leave ins.
M&S (every other dayish): water & EVCO/castor

-----

That's it. My hair has thrived with simplicity. The non-drying mudwash changed everything. Now that my hair isn't being stripped, I don't need to do so much to add moisture. Now that plastics, emulsifiers & waxes in conditioners are gone, there's no need for harsh cleaning. My hair stays in balance, and I need to do little to maintain it.
