I started my HHJ at 25, my last relaxer was 1/10/2007, I found the site in 2/2007 but did not join until 8/2007.

Y'all are makin me feel OLD. I started last year at 38. I finally have healthy hair and am retaining length. I wish I would have known sooner that this site was here :(

I think its never too late good for you that you started listening to your hair!
Your hair looks great btw!!!!

I did my BC in 2003 and dabbled a little since then. I'm 35 now and I've just begun my focussed HHJ in November of 2008. After 5 years of hits and misses I'm finally having some noticeable successes! I'm grateful for all I'm learning from this forum.

I started trying to learn about healthy hair care in my teens, taking vitamins, etc...and my hair thrived. But, I jacked it up in college by using heat.

SO, I would say my HHJ started at 22 & I saw the improvement within a few months.

i got fed up with my hair the weekend i turned 20...and got that weave taken out. my cousin put me on to dominican salons that weekend, but only AFTER she ripped out half my hair with the weave takedown. i let them take care of me for a few months after that, and i think it was april when i found LHCF and started doing it myself. by june i was ready to BC into 100% healthy hair. i am now 21 with the hair i used to envy on other people.

22, my last relaxer was in October or November of 2005, NOBODY thought I would do it, lol, I started seeing results after I BC'd almost a year later, but I messed up cus I didnt take care of the hair I left out for weaves :wallbash:.....so its working itself out in the front but it's coming along quite nicely now, lol

I really started around age 17 using less heat, and taking better care of my ends. However, I didn't "go hard" on my HHJ until I was about 21, and stumbled upon the hair boards. I'm now 26 and I saw results immediately when I cut back on heat, and even better results when I learned a lot more about haircare/added to my existed knowledge base, by finding the threads. If I knew about these sites (if available back then) when I was 15-17, then my hair would be to my knees, and I would've been natural like 10-12 years ago! lol

In a weird kind of way, I think it sort of started when I began to stretch my relaxers to every 12 weeks after reading about it in Hype Hair back in the 90s until I went natural in '98. I did try to care for my hair but was ignorant about a lot of things until I found NP.com and LHCF in 2003, I was in my mid twenties then. Even now the penny is still dropping about a lot of my hair practices, lol! Since finding the info on the boards, my hair has been so much healthier and recovered well from setbacks.

I have you beat Lady. I started my HJ right before the big 40. I had planned to get it cut and locked but DH asked me to grow it out first. That was November of 2008. I started my HEALTHY HJ March 2009 when I found LHCF, I turned 40 that May. Better late than never. I will be the old women with the long A hair. :lachen::lachen:

I think my mind-set changed when I stopped going to stylists every week. I was 20-21 then.

I joined LHCF at 21....I would probably have never found LHCF if I wasn't stuck in a new city with a broken flat iron, or if I had not seen signs for "blowouts" everywhere in the DMV. I googled "blowout" and found LHCF. I actually didn't come back to it for a few weeks....until the stylist cut off my dead ends and I was sad that my hair was so short (NL).

I saw results slooowllly over the first year, but now I look at the pics from that summer and I'm blown away at the difference.

When I joined, my goal was full SL. I hit that a year ago, and it took me a whole 11 months to reach APL. It's okay. I've learned patience. I hope to reach BSL by the end of the year and hopefully WL eventually. If I never get past BSL, I'll be happy as long as my hair is healthy and full.

I started my HHJ last Aug 2009. Im like one of the previous ladies, as long as i had weave i was cool.... until one day i realized i had thin shoulder length relaxed hair, thats was damaged due to the neglect and wearing sew ins and not taking care of my hair properly... i ll be 27 in april. I m about 5 months into my natural hhj and im seeing major results already. so im anxious to see what 2010 can bring me.. hair is a science, now its like a hobby i enjoy.

I started the journey as a relaxed head at age 35 (August 2008). I bc about 7 months after that (March 2009).

I saw results from my natural journey around August 2009 at age 36. As it grows, I am having to learn more.

Right now, I am not excited about hair.

i started at 16 with broken, chewed up chin/neck length relaxed hair..which is also when i transitioned..im 18 now..started seeing results in about 4-6 months...i'm thankful i started this early..but the time im 21, my hair well be well grown out.

I started at 23 a little over a year ago. I wish I found this site 3 years ago when all my hair fell out after having my son. I wouldnt have had to put weave in my hair and jack it up even more. But the important thing is I'm here now and i'm extremely proud of how far i've come.

I started when I was 17, in December 2008. My hair was well taken care of until I was 12, which was when my mom gave me the wheel. Of course I drove the car right through the center of the Earth and out the other side for the next five years.

I'm 18 now, and I feel really comfortable with my hair and the trajectory of my HHJ. I think I've gotten the basics of my regimen down and hit my stride, so from here on out, I'll just be playing with products and waiting for growth. I'm just grateful that I found LHCF early, so God willing, there's still time for me to live a long life with beautiful hair.

All of mylife I've taken care of my hair. That was very important to my momma growing up. I went to the hair dresser on a weekly basis and at 20 I started taking care of my hair myself, now I'm 27.

I just started my journey last month and i'm 19, I'll be 20 next month. I wish I found this website when I was like 15 or 16, but i'm still young so I can't complain.
