I am pretty new compared to many of you and I was just wondering how long was your hair when you started getting all this good advice from this board. When I hear that many people are 20 inches and more I dream of having my hair that length one day

. Did any of you ladies ever think your hair would be this long and healthy?

I NEVER thought my hair would be this long (three inches from brastrap) because as a child, it grew to chin length only. My mother would press it on a regular basis. Over the years, I've gone completely natural a few times. Only then did I experience growth to shoulder and beyond. (As an adult, I tried pressing my natural hair but it breaks easily just as it did when I was a child) Went from natural to relaxed in Jun'03. Started getting hair advice approximately a year ago.

I first decided to grow my hair out in May 2002. I had a Halle Berry type cut and the at the longest my hair was 3.5 inches at the most. I knew that my hair could grow, but I had never tried to grow out my hair at such a short length. Now at 20.5" from hairline to ends and and 11.5-14.5 inches from scalp to ends, I realize that my hair does indeed grow at least 6" a year (a little bit faster in fact

).

I started at 18 inches from hairline to ends. Currently I am at 21 inches (it was 21 1/2 until a recent trim). My hair grows at an avaerage rate I guess. I almost never get an inch a month, except maybe in the summertime!

I started with a halle shag in June 2002 and by August 2002 I had started to grow my hair back out. The reason why I cut it in the first place was it had started to thin out something terrible...I can't remember why and I hate to have thin hair so I went to the salon showed my stylist a picture and had her cut it all off. It was kind of funny because she kept saying "you really needed this"

The last time I checked I was at 17" but now that I'm in braids I don't know.

well i joined hair clubs coz my hair was breaking a lot and i couldnt for the life of me imagine why wen i was usin pink as directed (duh!!) it was the longest it had ever been which was about 7 inches but it was brittle and altho my hair is shorter now i wudnt trade it for anything coz its the healthiest its ever been

My hair was about 3" when I put braids in in Aug of 2002 and kept them for a year. MY hair is currently shoulder length. I'm using the crown and glory method now and my hair is flourishing. I've retained about 3.5" since I found the boards in June 2003. My hair has never appeared to grow this fast.

My relaxed hair was neck/nape length last summer. My natural hair is about the same length now when it's straightened. Maybe an inch longer...

i started also with a halle berry pixie cut when io decided i would not cut my hair anymore, and it has been 2 years and this is the first time in my life i am groing my hair, it's at 19 inches and growing very nicely , i came to this board only a few weeks ago and the advice is priceless!
i only wish i would have found it 2 years ago when i started growing it out , i would have kept alot more hair....

Since I came to the hair boards (Ezboard and LHCF), I am retaining my length and my hair has never been healthier. I'm just watching it grow!

When I joined this board I had no hair on my sides or in the back an now I can put my hair in a little ponytail. I like watching my hair grow an I'm grateful to everyone on this site

. My hair has never been this healthy. I get compliments all the time from people who seen me with short hair and their amazed at the growth because Germany has very hard water.

When they ask me what I'm doing to my hair and I tell them the first thing that they say is doesn't washing your hair ever 3 days dry it out ( Thanks Cathy Howse

) an to everyone who does this we go into how water is good for our hair and then we mention Distilled Water, essential oils, scalp massages and this board.

I know that I can reach my hair goal and have healthy hair thanks to everyone on this board and the wonderful advice that is given.

When I first came to this board I had 17 to 19 inches of damgaged hair. I cut off about 2 inches of it in August and now I am growing back much healthier inches. Im so happy because faithfully sticking to the bun challenge has kept my trim line in tact so well that I have to look at my new growth (one inch in front and 1 1/2 inches in the back) just to know that my hair is growing. I never in my life had such healthy ends, Im still in shock sometimes when I take my hair down. I just hope progress continues.

i used to have long hair like 2-4 inches from bra strap and I always got complements, I mean all the time. Then like a fool, I got to high school and used heat on my hair on a daily basis, and now i have 16 inches from hairline to ends
