How Often is too Often to Wash Relaxed Hair?

i don't have the time or the patience for more than once a week. don't everybody jump me but in the winter i go two weeks. for me this works and my hair thrives from it. when i wash it too often, no matter how much conditioning i do to it, it just doesn't act right. it will be very lifeless and not hold styles. people who knew me when i was a teenager (Teerama) remember that i HAD (I am trying to get i back to health and long again, that is why i am on this board now) long healthy hair for years and back then I washed every two weeks. i think it all depends on how your hair reacts and your lifestyle. i think since i have all this color in my hair now that the less i wash, the less breakage i experience. my hair is so fragile right now that i hate to manipulate it too much. i wear a doobie wrap for the first week after the wash and then the second week i wear a pony (loaded with evoo and moisturizer) or i do the half weave thing. after the second week i get it washed and i ask them to lather a few times extra to make sure it is super clean. i think that is one of the reasons my hair is doing well even after my color horror. i guess the ladies without color can wash more often.

Thanks bajanplums1 and everyone for responding because I have been wondering too. I itch really bad after 2 days and want to wash. Read at TLHC about making a rinse from aspirin (for the salicylic acid, no doubt) for the itchies that I am going to try.

How do u ladies dry your hair when u wash it so often? I get home around 9pm during the week. Its getting colder here in NY and I don't really want to go to sleep with a wet head cause it most certainly won't be dry by the morning. How do u guys dry your hair?

I just got a hood dryer. I don't use any heat so it is still slow but it helps.
