I rarely start threads but hopefully I'll get some responses. After trying Kimmaytube's leave-in on my relaxed hair, I realized there definitely is something to using products at a proper pH because my hair airdried very smooth and soft (better than ever before!). I had previously bought a sample size of Roux Porosity Control but on Black Friday I picked up the full size from Sally's. There was another thread a while ago that talked about whether you use it first or last and I decided to use it last after reading that thread. I bought it for the same purpose that I tried the Kimmaytube recipe:
- to ensure my strands had returned to a proper pH
- the cuticles were closed and at the proper porosity.

I used my regular leave-in (Bee Mine Deja's Hair Milk :lick:) without the KT recipe - mainly because I didn't feel like mixing it up and the hair milk is a lil too expensive for me to do that with IMO. Well it worked - my hair really DOES feel a lot softer and smoother after airdrying just as it did with the KT recipe but without the extra greasiness/oiliness. As with her recipe I did not have to moisturize for 2 days after my wash day again! :yep: For me, using the Roux PC for a few minutes right before my final rinse in the shower is a lot easier than mixing the KT leave-in and gave me the same results. So now I am wondering is it okay to use the Roux PC weekly? How often do you use it?

I've used it weekly in the past with no problems. I always used it as a final rinse after my deep conditioner.

I only use it b4 my relaxer and once a month after tht. Not because I thikn it may hurt something, but only because It kinda makes my hair rough. I think u can use it as often as u like though

I use it maybe once or twice a month after DC. Then anytime I use any type of chemical, like hair dye, I use it a week or so before and the next couple of weeks after. Like the others here said, not b/c of any harm but rather b/c I want to be sure my pH level is correct.

I plan to start using it weekly because it has made such a difference in my hair over the last two wash days...

Same.

ETA: Always as a Final Rinse and per the instructions

Hi CeeBee:blowkiss:

Co-sign with IDareT'sHair and Ceebee3. I use it every wash, no problems.

Thanks, this is exactly how I used it and plan to do so in the future! :yep:

Exactly! It gave me even better results than the Kimmaytube Leave-In because my hair was downright greasy after that, although it DID leave my hair soft and smooth. But it was so much easier and faster to just use the PC. I am NOT a mixologist, I hate taking the time to "make" my own hair stuff. If something I buy at the store can do the same thing, I'll chose that every time. :yep:

I use it once a week after I shampoo and before I condition.
Why do you choose to use it before you condition rather than after as a final rinse? Just curious because this is a different method than what I and the other ladies have done.

It is safe to use every wash. I initially purchased it to wash my hair and keep it wet while removing extensions. It removes tangles, shed hair, dust, etc. from base of braids/twists and reduces breakage during removal of extensions. I sometimes use it to detangle when washing hair.

I use it that way because I don't like the way it makes my hair feel as a final rinse. It feels kind of dry and stripped when I use it that way.

I used to consistently apply the PC before the final rinse, but I disliked the way it made my hair feel; so, now I apply it before the DC.

Wilt differences are you ladies noticing since using roux? I noticed my hair is drying extremely fast

It makes my hair hard when I use it for my final rinse so I add it to my DC mix. I haven't had any issues.

the same for me too, I used it weekly over every other week after I shampoo then DC. I just started to use this back in September and love it. I make sure I use it before I apply a color/perm.

If there is one product that I will stan for, it's Roux Porosity Control :yep:

I'm using 1x - 2x a week. Essentially after I deep condition. I do it as a final rinse, but I'll try it before DC'ing to see if there's any substantial difference.

Well for me, normally when I airdry I load up my hair with leave in and One n' Only Argan Oil. Then after it airdries I still have to add more moisturizer to my ends because they feel a little rough and look slightly frizzy sometimes. If I don't airdry with the Argan Oil serum then my hair doesn't feel smooth. BUT when I use the PC as my final rinse it seems to close and smooth my cuticle because I only used a "normal" amount of my leave-in and my hair dried so soft and fluffy (because it wasn't drenched in products) and SMOOTH! I but it up in a bun and didn't have to moisturize for 2 days because it felt so good. This was great because my leave-in is Bee Mine Deja's Hair Milk and not using the Argan Oil prevents build up since I'm not using cones.

Is there a difference between these two Roux PC?
Roux Porosity Control
Roux Porosity Control Corrector & Conditioner
Or is it the same thing with different bottles? looking at the label on the RPC it also says corrector & conditioner so I'm thinking it's the same thing. Also is this what you guys are using for your final rinse, or is it a different one? Thanks In Advance

^^^ The packaging recently changed so I think your are looking at the old and new versions of the same thing.

Also, I only use Roux after a DC to close the cuticle and help all that moisture stay in. Sometimes I DC a couple times a week. I haven't noticed any adverse effects.

Thank you so much for your reply, that's exactly what I thought. I'm glad I don't have to take it back thinking that it was the wrong one.

I use it in my DC mix. It helps my hair feel smoother/ keeps my cuticles flatter. I get far less tangles with roux than without it.

I use it once every 3 weeks after each wash. I mix it with my giovanni conditioner and rosemary oil. I couldnt detangle without it!

if it makes your hair hard y do u keep using it? i have a huge bottle that i want to use as well but it also makes my hair hard when i use it as a final rinse.

I keep using it because it lays my cuticles down and I don't have frizziness and tangles especially when air drying when I put it in my DC mix. I wouldn't keep using the product if there wasn't an alternative way of using it.

I just purchased this product from Sally's yesterday and I wanted to know more about this product, so thanks EbonyCPrincess for starting this thread.

I think my plan will be to first try it as a final rinse and if I am getting the dryness that some people are speaking of, then I will do it between the poo and DC.

Another question, if I may, when you are doing the final rinse, are you rinsing out the DC and then putting in the PC or are you lathering it over the DC and then washing it out? I was just thinking about how both of these methods may be effective.
