How often do you refresh your twistouts and braidouts?

Usually daily until I wash again but I normally wash more when my hair is in this style due to the build up.

I rebraid every night or pineapple and rebraid every other night, the same goes with bantu knots. This way my style is always fresh. I've yet to do a twist out, so no help there sorry :(.

When I wear a twist out, I have to retwist (flat twist) every night. I can twist my entire head in about 20-30 minutes, so I just twist gently in front of the TV or mirror.

I tried pineappling my twistout and I always wake up to a cottonball - so that doesn't work for me.

Same goes for a braidout, I would have to rebraid each night.

Until my next wash usually. When it starts looking crappy I tie up half or bun half or bun it all, but I hate rebraiding it on a schedule.

I would have to retwist every 2 to 3 days. I usually retwist because I have to moisturize not due to losing the style. If I start with great definition, I can moisturize and not lose the style. At night I just put on my bonnet. If I could maintain moisture longer I could probably go 5 days without retwisting. That's my fantasy anyway :yep:

How do you maintain hour hair for that week?

I must be a unicorn...b/c I don't do much of anything (I'm 4b/c). I wear a bonnet most nights- and re-moisturize daily using LCO method. I am new to [non-heat] TO's-- so I plan to update my "Teach me how to TO" thread sometime soon.

I twist with Curl Prep Sweet Buttah then pineapple for a few nights, then retwist when it looks frizzy. I can also get the same effect with a little Eco Styler Argan Oil gel and a leave-in.

Today I'm wearing an old twist out that has not been retwisted; however, it's not all that frizzy and it was not defined since I only used Cantu Coconut Curling Cream with no holding product.

How do you keep the twist out definition once you moisturize? What products are you using for LCO? tia

@faithVA I use all Komaza products: L = Aloe My Hair Moisture Spray. It's like a "wet" oil if that makes sense. Its sinks into the hair and moistens it but it doesn't get it reversion wet. I spritz a little into my hands (thin layer- rub hands together) then rub throughout my hair. C = Shea Butter Lotion (just a 1-3 drops, spreads nicely); and O = Jojoba Hemp Oil. I just use a thin sheath of everything, spread it in my hands, then throughout my hair. It doesn't take much to moisturize on a daily; and in doing so I don't get too much reversion. Eta: also for my L: I sometimes use Komaza Califia Spray or Vitamin Reign -- I love them all and use the same concept/steps-- but these are wetter sprays.

I re-twist every night for my twistouts. I usually moisturize every night because I've been using a gel when I twist after my wash/conditioning that makes it feel crunchy. So I moisturize with Oyin whipped pudding or water sealed with an oil and put in about eight to ten braids nightly.

The pineapple doesn't work for me either so I retwist every night to stay fresh. Usually 10-12 twists 4 sections 3-4 twists per section. I spritz(distilled water & jojoba/coconut oil) my hair nightly before I retwist.

Is it just me or does retwisting give weird looking results? I wear a bonnet and my hair lasts for 2-5 days before i redo it.

I tried pineappling once to preserve my curls like two years ago and my hair was just left standing up on top of my hair and the my curls elongated smh

I twist every night to stretch my hair but I only moisturize/seal every other day so as not to weigh it down.

My below APL hair is superfine, 4a and low density so it takes me all of 10-15 minutes to twist my hair. I also like doing bigger twists for more volume since my hair is so fine.

I usually pineapple the first night and then retwist aftr day 2 or 3, dependg on how frizzy it is.

My hair will stand with elongated curls too, aftr pinapplg, but oiling my hair befr I pineapple helps a lil bit.

For twistouts or braidouts, I can pineapple the whole week if I don't mind some shrinkage. If I want it to stay somewhat stretched, I put my hair in 3-6 Bantu knots midweek. For super defined but stretched curls, I do 3-6 Bantu knots every night.

Once a week I moisturize and re-twist or re-braid. As long as the moisture lasts, the definition of the style I achieved lasts. Once the moisture dissipates, it becomes a tangled puff ball when slept on.
