How often can I blow dry only?

I blow dried my hair in June '09 for my yearly trim and going back to the salon in Dec. '09 for another trim and 6 months progress pics until June 2010 (where I better be WL or else!!!!)

I suspect that after Dec '09, I'll start wearing my hair straight (will confirm depending on length at blow drying session- have a WL goal). We often talk about the maximum number of times to flat iron per month/per year without suffering any heat damage or the maximum temperature for the flat iron setting etc. Well, how many times per year can I safely blow dry only with no flat ironing or pressing while avoiding breakage and heat damage? What's the maximum setting on a professional style blow dryer?

The process would be similar to what I did for my 2.5 progress pics just a weeee bit straighter. I pre-treated my hair at home, applied my heat protectant and allowed the stylist to blow dry only with a paddle brush (I might ask him to blow dry it differently, don't like how that brush rips through my hair at all!). It's not nearly as hot nor does my hair get straight like a DR. style blowout but it's enough for me to braid it and show length or to do braid outs on straight dry hair or simply straight enough to leave the hair out for the big hair look (Diana Ross style)...

If you saw pics of my hair in the 2.5 progress pics thread, am I MBL for sure? Sometimes I'm not convinced...Next time I’ll wear a bra, the naked back doesn’t help.

Thoughts?

I think if you use a high quality blowdryer and a great heat protectant you could probably blow dry once or twice a month. That is, if your hair is healthy to begin with.

Blowdrying every time you wash is perfect for me (every 2-4 weeks). I can't be put under the same guidelines and "heat" rules as other lhcf'ers. My hair type is different; and the styles that I'm going for are different. PLus it helps if you have a strong 4b texture.
