How Much Length Did You Retain Last Year?

I'm not sure how much in inches I've retained. I just know its longer than it was last year. Of course last year I wasn't wearing protective styles at all. So hopefully this year I will do better and thicken up my hair and pay more attention to my nape area. By the end of this year and if all goes well, I should be right above my waist. After that I don't want anymore length. I'm too trifling to keep up what I have.

I feel your pain Adrienne. But I'm sure you haven't stopped growing. I have this problem too though and your progress really inpries me. Don't worry - I think with your monthly pics you will definitely notice a difference in length, same as always, after a few months of pics.

I've retained 7 inches of hair. I don't know if that is all of my hairgrowth for the year, but that would be good if it is. This year I hope to retain at least 6 inches of hair (I am going to get an inch cut during the summer).

I'm not sure. All I know is where I am now is exactly where I was in June. I had a huge setback in July and had to chop off 4 inches. It all grew back. This year I'm just taking it one month at a time. I'm tired of setting goals and not reaching them. Very discouraging.

I believe I retained 6 inches. I need to keep better track of my length, and that is my goal for the new year. That, and to grow my hair to my waist.

It seems right now I am growing 1 inch per month... now, if I can just retain all of it!

Soulchild,

I appreciate you telling me not to give up! That's why I love this forum. I will reevaluate my routine, beginning with daily washing like the Surge bottle instructs. I went to a salon for the first time in three years

!! She used MY seamless comb and cut my hair. I hadn't had a real trim in years, so I decided to let her take off as much as 'needed.' Now, I think that was a mistake because my ends are STILL frizzy and breaking!!

She cut a couple of inches off. The one thing I do like is that in parts of my hair, it looks a lot thicker, no wispy ends. Why oh why can't I just live near one of you gurus so we could do each other's hair?! Do I really need to move for longer hair? Now I have done some drastic things in the name of healthy hair, but selling my house.....

That's WHOA!!

Sorry to get back to you so late. My hair did in fact grow about 14 inches last year. In October I think of 2002 I had about 6 - 8 inches of hair from root to end. I started taking very good vitamis, including Freeda and PP Biotin, but I think a good multi vitamin is the root of every vitamin program. I have been putting down all my other supplements, but have not been listing the multi that I take because I thought like a lot of people do that a vitamin is a vitamin. I was mainly interested in growing my hair so I addressed those supplements mainly. Now I do take good hair vitamins (Andrew Lessman, expensive but worth it) but my multi is called Nature's Code. It is by a doctor called Doctor Taub. His vitamins are easily absorbed by the body (within 45 min to an hour). I am on an autoship program where I get them every ninety days and it's only about $16.49 a month I think. I think that these lay the ground work for the other supplements that I take. I have been taking them for a little over a year now (they were recommended by my physician because I tend to be anemic) and like I said I never gave them any thought until he asked me a few weeks ago how I liked them. Andrew Lessman's Green Foods Complex is also a good product for the hair. It contains chorella, wheatgrass, spirulina, blue grass algae and barley grass that are all excellent for the hair as well as energy boosters.

Now don't get me wrong I think the growth came from the biotin, but I the foundation product (the multi) gave it a superior jump start. If you cannot invest in a more expensive multi, be sure to include digestive enzymes in your daily intake. They will make the food and supplements you take break down more quicly and efficiently so that you can get all the nutritional benefits that you can from them.

I cut 4 inches off and 2 inches have grown back already. Since I started my vitamin regimen I usually get 1.5 to 2 inches per month. I have slowed down somewhat this winter. I am only getting a little over an inch a month.

Yes 14 inches in all. I am going to have to dust my ends this weekend again, but I think I shouldn't have to take off more than a half inch. My hair will be 20.5 inches from root to ends from the nape area and 22inches in the middle of my head. That hair has always been longer for some reason but the nape area grows faster too so I don't know what's up with my hair. I have 4 more inches to waistlength. But that's it for me. I have enough troublw handling this hair. After I reach waist, I am just going to work on keeping it trimmed, healthy and shiny. I shampooed with a honey foaming jelly from L'occitane and it left my hair very shiny. I had heard a lot about honey giving shine to the hair, so I had this honey foaming jelly from L'occitane that I bathe with and decided to use it on my hair since it said that it can also be used to shampoo the hair and it worked out great. I also used the honey body balm by the same company to give it some extra shine after it dried and that was excellent. My hair smelled great. I had several people stop me and ask what was that I was wearing and I told them it was my shampoo. They said it smelt great and they commented on the shine of my hair.

Edie I'm taking notes over here.

Last year I might have lost an inch or so from my starting point. I posted it in "My Home profile" but it's gone now so I'm not fully sure.

This year I will be able to stay away from scissor happy stylist so I should make some progress this time.

I just checked out your photo album and I must say that your hair is beautiful. I wish my hair responded well to relaxers and presses (I revert easily and believe me it's not a pretty sight). I have sworn off relaxers.

I cut off 6 inches last year in trims, but my hair looks soooo good now!!!
I used to have a lot of problems with relaxers (under/over processing, my hair would break, not str8 enough, etc etc....) I faithfully deep conditioned my hair weekly, went to the salon every 10 weeks for touch ups and my hair has done a complete turnaround.
So.. I said all that to say that this year Is the year I plan to make an effort to retain length.
