The amount you'll retain depends on whether or not you get a trim and how much the stylist takes off. If your goal is to retain most of your growth but you still need a trim, tell the stylist to take off 1/8" because they usually take of more, so you'll probably end up with a 1/4" trim
.
I retain a majority, if not all of my new growth because I do my own touchups and trims. I dust my ends when I feel the need, maybe once or twice per year. I figure split ends will always occur so what's the point to trying to keep up with this never ending cycle?
Ok the only person I trust to trim my hair is me after so-called professionals
disregarded my hard earned new growth and cut my hair inches or more at a time. So I can do that myself. So what do you think, ill retain at least 1.5 or more?
Most definately! I don't see why not, if everything goes smoothly and you make sure that your scalp and previously relaxed hair are coated. You should be able to retain it all...
Keep us posted and let us know how it goes
If the hair is healthy I don't see any particular reason for a trim. I only trim as needed. I think if you do trim don't get more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch cut off. That will leave you with 2inches left! HHG!
You're asking?? You are in charge of your hair. If you ask for a trim, and your stylist doesn't want to discuss it, she just wants to do "her thang". Tell her nevermind. If you discuss and she wants to argue, or she doesn't want you to have a mirror---tell her nevermind. The most you should cut at one shot is about 1/4. Because 1 trim should not fix every hair mistake you have. That is called a hair CUT.
