Hmmmm...I thought I had posted here but could not find a response. I think I figured out in mid October that I had gone from 1 inch to 5.5 in the back/nape and about 4.5 everywhere else. I BC in March and did this measurement in mid-October.

So...that's 7 months.

I have to get a calculator...lol...hold on...

Based on 7 months, I get half an inch per month everywhere except my nape, which grows at about .64 of an inch...just a tiny bit faster. I've always known my nape grows well, but I never measured it. My nape is also nearly a completely different texture than my entire head. It's not kinky, it's not curly. It lies flat when wet and when drying and I have to twist my nape with a little hair that's higher up so that it will actually twist.

Makes me think there is truth to the fact that straighter hair grows faster...or at least retains more easily because it's not as apt to break since it doesn't require as much manipulation. I NEVER comb my nape...don't even have to. Is anyone else like me? Totally off topic, but this thread set me to thinking....

Viewing this poll makes me feel a little better about my slow growth rate. There's an asymmetrical distribution with the average being 5.5 (-1/+1.5) meaning my piddly 4.25-4.50 inches a year is w/i the average (4.5-7). I sure wish I could increase my growth rate though! :)

I stopped relaxing last August and by this August had retained about 5.5 inches of hair. So factoring in breakage and my BC I suspect I grow about 5-6 inches a year.

i wud say abt 6-7 inches.

i bc'd in NOv 09 after only 5 weeks of 'transition' and now most of my hair is abt 6 inches, some sections are a bit longer like 6.5 inches.
